New Slowdive single. I didn't see it here yet. That's because we have a whole thread dedicated to Slowdive

My mum cannot stand this particular tune by My Bloody Valentine. All the more reason to play it. LOL
(She like most other tunes by them though, especially "Soon" - maybe because it's a bit groovy)

Here's a cool story for you fellow shoegazers. It's about a short-lived and unknown band from California called Ozean, which recorded a three-tracks demo tape in 1992. The tape was recently rediscovered and shared online. It's cool, it sounds like Just For a Day-era Slowdive. The first track is brilliant. link: ozean.bandcamp.com/releaseshttps%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/246751946If it does well, they'll release it on vinyl too. Lisa said this on YouTube.

This one will also get a re-release on vinyl on the last day of this month, if everything's going well...

Very atrocious attempt at creating a shoegaze atomsphere with guitar multitracks. Hopefully I'm on the right track? https%3A//soundcloud.com/starsailor96/shoegaze-fail

I think it needs to be more quiet or at least little bit different sounding. I have no idea how to record with multitracks though so my advice is probably "easier said than done"

How did you make it? Getting a good shoegazish sound is not an easy task. I've been trying for a while

I've been trying for a while Took a couple of fuzzy guitar multitracks for the primary shoegaze guitars, adding tons of reverb and echo, whilst also toying with the pitch and tempo. The droning sound is a female vocal paulstreched with added reverb. Audacity's paulstretch and reverb effects help produce the droning sound.

The droning sound is a female vocal paulstreched with added reverb. Audacity's paulstretch and reverb effects help produce the droning sound. paulstretch is amazing What's the FX order? Putting delay after reverb or vice-versa can give you radically different results, for example. And it's incredibly easy to overdo it and turn everything into a messy, muddy thing. Which could be a good thing sometimes, but often it is not My signal chain is usually something like: distortion/overdrive -> delay/tape echo -> reverb I'd set the delay quite high in the mix but with a low feedback setting (i.e. low number of repeats). The reverb is crucial, as it should be quite dense but it must not turn the mix into a huge mess: I'd put it very close to 100% wet, on a large room/hall setting but with a short decay time, like 3 seconds or less. This gives you the big dense sound but leaves some clarity at the same time, so the chords changes are subdued but still audible. I picked up the guitar and tried to recreate a sort of Slowdive-ish atmosphere in five minutes. Not the best effort and very amateur-like, I agree. It's a single, very simple guitar track and the FX are pretty much what I wrote above, excluding the distortion. The reverb is on a large hall modulated setting and I also added an extra stereo chorus effect at the end of the chain for an increased stereo feel. At the beginning I'm strumming the two chords once so you can hear how the delay and reverb interact together. The 2-3 echoes are quite high in the mix and they're glued together by the modulated reverb, which decays pretty quickly so it doesn't screw up the mix. https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/303861782

carlober @driver7 Here's another attempt. Lowered the volume and low end frequences outputing a beefier, more base centered muddy haze. The tape warp at the end was something I discovered on accident when I paulstretched a factor of .01 on a 1 second clip. Doesn't fit in with the rest but I couldn't resist not keeping it on here. I'm getting there, hopefully. https%3A//soundcloud.com/starsailor96/shoegaze-attempt-2

glider, now that's more like it! Nice work, it sounds brilliant This afternoon I had a go at shaping up some My Bloody Valentine-inspired sounds. The first clip is a very easy, improvised chord progression which could be slightly reminiscent of To Here Knows When (well, not really). Basically it's four power chords into a fuzz and a thick reverb. https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/304015124The second one has more of a (very) poor man's Sometimes (probably my favorite MBV track, by the way) vibe: https%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/304015086

https%3A//soundcloud.com/starsailor96/shoegaze-ethereal-noise Just did this one! Think I finally got something I'm aiming for!
Heavily drenched reverb and delay on bass with tremolo is awesome.

Part 2 is awesome carlober ! Unfortunately I don't have an electric guitar or amps/pedals so I can't do these myself and have to work with multitracks.

Here's a clip I just cooked up. Has the sound of a ship traversing through a forgotten nebula.

Those two sounds ace, glider! Was paulstretch involved?

Those two sounds ace, glider ! Was paulstretch involved? Indeed. The 2nd track is a piano that mimicked a choir with paulstretch alongside a bass tremolo that sounds like the rear engine exhaust ports for a spaceship. No reverb involved actually. The first clip indeed heavy reverb/delay with paulstretch. Gotta get a electric guitar soon to test out riffs. Want to start crafting actual songs with drum patterns, etc.
