Discovered this gem by a band called Bloom, thanks to a song discovery service I'm subscribed to: Nice find! Reminds me alot of Ride.

Not exactly shoegaze but have you guys heard the Jon Hopkins Mylo Xylophone remixes? Very ethereal and psychedelic. Charlie Brown is my favorite. The vocal mantra effect in the beginning blends in well with the reverb effects and synths like on the album version.

Paralysed by Ride: such a brilliant track! Strangely enough, the intro has always reminded me of some kind of power metal/folk metal song

Just blown away by this track. It's the sound of traveling at light speed through millions of different galaxies.

Slowdive are fucking incredible and so fucking underrated.
This one, So Tired, always hits me pretty hard. D'you know when you're five seconds into a song and you already know that you're going to love it? The very first chord here may be only a standard, slightly distorted, big E but it is strummed with such a passion and a tension... it feels like you can touch the pain which permeates the whole song.
It's just four chords soaked in a cavernous reverb, coupled to Rachel Goswell's ethereal vocals... but man, it's the sound of melancholy and winter rain and late night thoughts and unfulfilled dreams and disillusion.

I would like to get more into shoegaze. I know some My bloody valentine, a few more songs from other bands, but i just haven't really got into it/given it a proper chance yet. If some of you could list your top 5-10 essential/personal shoegaze favorites, that would be much appreciated and a nice task for tomorrow to listen through. Edit: Maybe I should just go through the songs being linked here, seems that would be the point being on this thread after all

I had heard about half of the songs listed, some that I already liked (When you sleep, Already there) and some that I had heard once or twice. Sadly, I was reminded why I hadn't fallen for those songs at first glance, and of the "new" songs, "She's a superstar" was the only one which I felt like listening to more than twice. But when I had lost all hope in a future as a "shoegaze appreciator", I clicked on the Slowdive song linked just above my first comment (So tired), and that was just what I was looking for! Atmospheric slow paced guitars combined with that heavenly voice which I would consider marrying if given the chance. So maybe there's some hope for me after all?

Here's a cool story for you fellow shoegazers. It's about a short-lived and unknown band from California called Ozean, which recorded a three-tracks demo tape in 1992. The tape was recently rediscovered and shared online. It's cool, it sounds like Just For a Day-era Slowdive. The first track is brilliant. link: ozean.bandcamp.com/releaseshttps%3A//api.soundcloud.com/tracks/246751946

Not a shoegaze band, but The Field Mice (which I love) have a couple of songs that sound very much like it to me:
