Yeah I found that section pretty interesting too, Liam's chat about "when I'm allowed to do my job" and that frustration being so evident even then. It's a shame they couldn't follow that thread through for MTV Unplugged...
After the film I'm kinda struggling to pick favourite parts, it was a similar experience to being a kid watching Star Wars for the first time again, for the most part I sat smiling like an idiot!
Everything at Rockfield was amazing though, could've happily watched 2 hours of that

Everything at Rockfield was amazing though, could've happily watched 2 hours of that Blackburn beating Liverpool to win the league and the rest of the band basically attacking Bonehead with a fire extinguisher. Absolutely brilliant.

Could you please write down what Liam says?
Minutes 1:16-1:22 - The young Liam bit. I got the tin of beans thing but I miss the last words. I guess it's from the new documentary

I guess it's from the new documentary "Or how much it costs. Or who you buy it off. Or what till you get it from. Or even whether it's your Spar, your Kwiksave or ... Sainsbury's?" Yes, it's from the new documentary.

confirmed that Liam is just demoing at the moment and hasnt recorded yet. Sentence 1: I'm not working with anyone I'm doing it all myself. Sentence 2: I can't play the guitar. :-D

Life in Vain was defintely edited. The one that we have has echo's. The one in the film didn't have.

I posted an interview on the first page where he said he was co-writing yet he says here he's doing it on his own. I hope he doesn't try it alone. It will probably be shit.

Roll on Oct 26. For those of us who were not able to attend the Q&A: What is going on with Bonehead's look?? Looks like a really old pornstar.

Is my memory playing tricks on me then? I thought that clip was used in the part about Noel's singing, was it actually alongside the coconut shy stuff about fans getting up to mischief? Obviously wouldn't be unknown for clips to be used out of context to suit the filmmakers narrative

I'm thinking of going again. Those 5 minutes were biblical with the Knebworth intro and Columbia starting.

Im assuming he must be working with people, he mustve had too much coffee,I believe he said in the Q interview that he had been working with some "great guys" or something, but yea hope hes not doing it on his own either. I dont know how much influence warner bros has with his work or whether hes just being left to it. guess we will find out

I'm going to watch it again this Sunday as I bought the ticket for it first, then bought the other ticket for past Sunday. Watching them flying over the Knebworth and starting with Columbia on a big screen is just incredible.

Amazing film!! Funny, emotional and downright rocking. Saw it on Sunday, followed by the Q & A live-stream here in Oslo, and can't wait to see it again (and again).
I did feel there was a few stories missing from that final cut that would be interesting to see, such as the Irish community and more on Peggy's story, the very earliest gigs, the Newcastle fight in 1994, T In The Park 1994, battle of the charts in 1995, Loch Lomond 1996, preparing for Knebworth 1996, MTV Unplugged 1996 (although technically after Knebworth on the timeline), the list goes on. Still, I assume it's all in the 8 hour cut, I can't even begin to think how difficult if must be to edit this down to a 2 hour film pleasing both demanding fans, and casual cinema-goers, so hat's off - they really did pull it off.
One general note worth mentioning that I see have confused many fans both on this forum and elsewhere. Basically, to add a more narrative to the film some of the actual content is taken out of context and the timeline. A good example; the footage depicting Noel Gallagher calling home to mother Peggy from his roadie days with the Inspiral Carpets is not actually from 1991. It's made up from two different conversations, even, by some creative editing. The footage of Noel is shot by Jill Furmanovsky (as confirmed by Matt Whitecross during the Q&A) on tour with Oasis (most likely from USA 1998, but would have to see the film again to verify), whilst Peggy's conversation is shot by a production company in their home in Burnage in October 1995 whilst the band is getting ready for their November 1995 tour. Other examples include the footage of the band in a van often used to illustrate the early years, which is actually from Sheffield Arena 1995. Will probably post a more complete list of these exceptions if people are interested once the film has been released, but just worth taking into consideration.

Is it realistic to think that there will be a (much) longer director's cut?

Would be really interesting to see a breakdown of where the key footage comes from. The majority of it I'd seen before but was great to see the backstage stuff like at TOTP and in Japan. I'm guessing Tim Abbot finally managed to cash in on all that camcorder footage he shot. Thing is, the book he did - www.amazon.co.uk/Oasis-Definitely-Tim-Abbot/dp/0684837463 - has loads more stills from various events in it so there's clearly so much more out there that they didn't include in the film.

Absolutely brilliant. As a Liverpool fan I need to pull you up on this...we beat Blackburn 2-1 but the scum drew with West Ham...so Blackburn still won the league But yeah you're right, the Rockfield footage was amazing.

Didn't Noel (the potato master of the Oasis universe himself) say it will be out at around this time? Well...I'm still waiting.

Something else to look forward to!
