I'm visiting the UK in June. Don't know if I should buy a Chicago ticket or hold out for a possible announcement of a June tour.

As feared.......................................................... Damon Albarn has talked about Gorillaz‘s collaboration with Noel Gallagher, describing the track as a “victory lap” and “the ultimate self-congratulatory Britpop moment”.
The two former Britpop rivals worked together on ‘We Got The Power’, which appears on Gorillaz’s upcoming album ‘Humanz’ and also features Savages singer Jehnny Beth.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Albarn said: “At one point, that track was Noel, me and [Blur‘s] Graham Coxon. It was the ultimate self-congratulatory Britpop moment. It was the victory lap, these geezers singing about all the power they had.”
“I went back and opted to doing it like you play something at the end of a film, as the credits roll,” he added. “Jehnny Beth was necessary. The testosterone levels were off the fucking scale.”I'd like to hear that version of the song. Not the current one. Is it just me or is there not a lot of Damon on this album? Sure he pops up a little here and there but not as much as previous LPs. I could be wrong.

Still can't properly get into them, even though I do like several of their tracks.

Definitely not going to buy this album. From what I've heard of the singles they are all either rubbish rap songs (not saying the genre is rubbish just the songs that appear on this album seem to be) or underwhelming background songs. Nowhere near the quality of self titled or Demon Days.

That doesn't include Noel who is listed on the credits with another two dozens people who did this or that but you can't hear with your own ear unless told.

Nowhere near the quality of self titled or Demon Days. I had the same feeling when the singles were released but I'd recommend these songs to listen to: Ascension Strobelite Saturnz Barz Andromeda (My favorite, really emotional song about Damon's loved ones who have passed away like his partners mother and Bobby Womack) She's My Collar We Got the Power

Best song is "Busted and Blue" and it's not even up for debate.

Saturnz Barz is an awful song in my opinion, I don't know who is singing it but he is fucking atrocious. I found Andromeda pretty boring, I do kind of like the dreamy sound of it though. I could offer my opinions on the other songs but I would be saying the same thing for every song.

Where are now all those smart critics who gave Beady Eye 0/10 for albums, and who will do that again with Liam. Why nobody now has no balls to say that the emperor wears no clothes and to give to this peace of shit 0/10.

Liam is always going to be an easy target for critics for so many reasons over the years/decades. A lot of media probably feels its payback time.

I often say Noel could learn a lot from a guy like Thom Yorke but he could also learn a thing or two from Damon Albarn who is always busy doing something!
- Blur - Solo Damon - The Good The Bad The Queen - Gorillaz - Soundtracks

Well yeah, that's what I'm talking about. There is no one with balls to say, hey, this is shit music. It doesn't matter if it's current or trendy, it's just shit. I took that approach. I was watching interview with guys from Gorillaz and I was like, hey, I like these guys, yes, I didn't like singles, I don't like that genre but, we all know that music is music, I will listen to this album with my clear heart, without prejudices. And it's just shit. Damon is really sending wrong message with this, why would he bother to write great songs when he can to this half arsed shit, have good production and hundreds of featurings and sell ten times more. And take some random song from Humanz and imagine how stupid us to perform song like that live every night. No wonder that Damon is passionate and crying on stage etc., when he is performing with Blur.

I'm enjoying this one for the time being. Not nearly as good as, say, Demon Days - and it doesn't have the energy or swagger you associate with Gorillaz, but some good tunes and a nice atmosphere. Saturnz Barz is class. Plus, how cool is that fucking cover? Honestly, though, I can't see it getting more than the occasional play as time stretches on...hooks just aren't as good as in previous years.

Can't find much to enjoy on Humanz personally from listening to all the singles and previews, so probably won't buy it. Yeah, probably shouldn't base my opinion on just previews and singles and maybe I should listen to the whole album for the full experience, but based on the fact that there's only one track on there that I thought was ok [Ascension] (not to mention that a couple of the other singles I've just found irritating), that probably wouldn't add a great enough deal for me to buy it and it doesn't sound that enticing listening to 50 minutes worth of it. Most of the people I've seen who like it have called it a 'party' album or similar, and if experience is anything to go by, parties are usually either the best times of your life or hell on Earth depending on which party it is and how it suits your taste. Anyway, not my sort of party, and I won't jump to conclusions about the people who are enjoying the party...... Although the fact that it's overall got much better reviews than their debut album (77 vs. Gorillaz' 71 www.metacritic.com/person/gorillaz ) does make me question whether it could be at least sliiiiiiightly overhyped. I get that tastes vary, sure, but usually I can at least understand why an album is popular with other people. Nothing on there's particularly out of my comfort zone, it 's just that it sounds like a series of album tracks or b-sides that aren't too memorable or displeasing, just half-baked. // I try and avoid typing stuff about music I don't like. I start off just trying to express my opinion, which at the start is relatively neutral but has a definite side, but then by the end of it I end up polarising my own opinion to the extreme of where I started. Shame on me.

Looks cool, definitely cooler than the cover for Demon Days, but seeing as they've already used that style for Demon Days (which itself was already a rip-off homage to Let It Be), it's difficult to appreciate it on its own terms without thinking of it as being slightly lazy [I get it's called Humanz and therefore maybe it's meant as a demonstration of progress from 12 (fuck I'm getting old) years ago, but they definitely could've done it in a more creative way].
