Loving Lannoy Point. Great tune. Loving it. I almost hear some vague New Order or The Cure in it. I feel it might be the best tune on the record.

I managed to rip today's performance of title track 'Weather Diaries' (previously known as Untitled #1) from a festival in Denmark. It's pretty much what we heard already, with some cool sounds added. Love the droning guitars and the Pink Floyd-esque solo, very good track overall. EDIT: mp3 rip of the full set (11 songs) available in THIS THREAD.

Same here, really surprised by such positive reviews (haven´t heard anything yet). I was trying not to expect too much cause I don't want to be disappointed when the album arrives, but those reviews got me really excited...

Here are two very interesting videos where the band talks about conceiving and recording Lannoy Point and Home Is a Feeling. I hope we get some of the same stuff for the other album tracks too, I love watching this kind of "behind the scenes" interviews. I've just listened to a couple of tracks so far... Rocket Silver Symphony is pure fucking krautrock! It sounds totally unexpected and bizarre but I like it!

Heard somewhere that Loz sings lead on it, is that true? Yes, I do believe it's him singing the verses. And the "chorus" is some classical Mark+Andy harmonies.

The album is VERY good. My expectations weren't super-high but they managed to surprise me.
There are some clunky lyrics here and there (as with most of Ride material, to be fair) and there's probably one slow piece too much near the end (Impermanence?), but overall it sounds very eclectic and ambitious. Not what you'd expect from four guys well past their forties in age!
Charm Assault is definitely the weakest track on the record... It wasn't a great choice for the first single, Lateral Alice is a better rocker. Short and infectious.
And now, speaking of the other tracks we hadn't heard yet...
Rocket Silver Symphony is a krautrock-infused track with lots of electronic touches which culminates in an explosive, very Ride-ish chorus. Sounds like Ride mixed with Kraftwerk and The Chemical Brothers... one of the highlights of the album for me. Cali sounds like summer. It reminds me of a shoegazy version of Millionaire for some reasons (in a good way), shaped on a progression of heavily-reverberated, poppy chords. White Sands, the album closer, is surprisingly calm and moody. I get a lot of Doves vibes from it, it totally sounds like an outtake from their Lost Souls album.

Also... it is worth noting that the album is very well produced, mixed and mastered. The songs have a lot of dynamics, it's not insanely loud or compressed beyond a reasonable limit. Everything sounds very spacious and tridimensional, with sound FXs and guitars using the whole stereo spectrum (it's definitely best enjoyed with headphones in that sense). Tremendous work from Erol Alkan and Alan Moulder.

Very disappointed. That and Arcade Fire last tracks and the first Alvvays new tune... let's stay optimistic though.

Knowing your dislike for Ballad of the Mighty I and similar sounding stuff, I can perfectly understand why you're disappointed I'll have to disagree on this though, I'm enjoying it very much at the moment. I love how diverse it sounds. People shouldn't expect Nowhere part II or a shoegaze record though, it's quite far from that.

Solid 8/10 so far, exceeded expectations.
Favourites so far are Lannoy Point, All I Want and Rocket Silver Symphony. The title track and Cali are growers too but I need to listen to the back half more before I really get a complete opinion of it. The only one I feel is subpar is Charm Assault.

Ok its been a couple days with the album, time to chime in. Lannoy Point is by far the best moment on the entire album. What a track. Easily maybe a top 5 Ride song all time. After that I dig Lateral Alice, Cali and Rocket Silver Symphony. Charm Assault sounds like something Beady Eye would have cooked up. Too cheesy for me. Production is strong throughout the LP. Not as good as Slowdive which hit a grand slam earlier this year.

First attempt at ranking tracks, after a few listens of the whole album:
Lannoy Point
Rocket Silver Symphony
Weather Diaries Cali Home Is a Feeling
Lateral Alice White Sands All I Want
Integration Tape (I do like it, but it's little more than a 2 minute instrumental which glues the album together)
Impermanence (a tad too slow for my taste, nothing special. I'd rather have a longer, more adventurous cut of Integration Tape in its place)
Charm Assault (I like the chorused-guitar riff after the intro, the verses are good but the chorus is incredibly weak and disappointing).

Finally received my copy of Weather Diaries. I'm more than happy, was waiting for this moment 9 years. If I would rank the tracks, it goes like this for now: 1. Weather Diaries 2. Home Is a Feeling 3. Rocket Silver Symphony 4. All I Want 5. White Sands 6. Lannoy Point 7. Charm Assault 8. Impermanence 9. Cali 10. Lateral Alice 11. Integration Tape Overall 8/10. It's really great album, but of course it's impossible to beat Nowhere and Going Blank Again .

Ride are playing at Glastonbury at 6:10 pm UK time today. There's a livestream on the BBC website but as usual with this kind of stuff it's geo-blocked outside the UK link: www.bbc.co.uk/events/ec584f/live/c5cdgw
