They have a new album titled We Are Like Love Songs coming out eventually so I decided to make this thread expressing my love of this band! Anybody else really like them? I know they went very commercial around 2008 but I still think they're a very unique band. Great vocalist in Caleb, amazing bassist in Jared (seriously, his bass lines alone are great pieces of music), and Matt & Nathan bring a lot to the band. Aha Shake Heartbreak is my favorite album from them. They have so many good songs to their name it's insane.

They use to be cool but those days are long long gone. Like you said, sold out BIG TIME in 2008 with "Sex On Fire". They use to be a real life Stillwater from 'Almost Famous'. Now they are every soccer mom's favorite band. They are "mini-van rock".

Lennon2217 said everything I want to say about them. I remember them seeing playing "Molly's Chamber" at Glasto 2004 on TV and those were the best days for them. With crap called "Sex on Fire" they're the number 1 sell out band of the world. Sorry jordan, but I can't stand them now.

The third one is strong too! Glad I got to see them live twice before the calendar flipped to 2008. The two gigs after that, All Points West and MSG were kinda like Nickelback Rock. Their lyrics use to be dangerous and risqué. I miss that. It's funny, two bands I listened to a LOT between 2003 and 2007 I barely listen to anymore. That being Kings of Leon and Kasabian. Both for totally different reasons.

I'm hearing Markus Dravs is producing their new album so that is a step in the right direction. I've always liked his work with Arcade Fire, Coldplay and Bjork.

So that's what Ricky Gervais used to play on XFM...I always thought he was saying "Modest Chambers!

I thought we were going to get a modern day Creendence Clearwater Revival with these guys, but instead they turned into a second rate U2. Those first two albums are modern day classics, especially their debut which I love for its ragged glory and haven't god damn clue what Caleb was singing about, plus I loved that long hair long beard rocker look, now they look like a group of damn hipsters who hang around coffee shops, except the drummer who at least kept his look . I did enjoy the third album Because of the Times, but you could hear the rumblings of the MOR sneaking into the sound. Once the horrible twosome of Sex on Fire and Use Somebody came out, I jumped off the train with KOL. I don't know what the worse sell out was between this lot or Coldplay after Viva La Vida.

It's funny how both Coldplay and Kings of Leon came to a fork in the road, be more creative/artistic or go pop mainstream. The rest is history.....

Sounds like these guys are the American Coldplay. Any great tunes from their pre-sellout years I should check out?

Never understood the Coldplay one seen as they were already massive by the time of Viva La Vida, their last truly great album so been creative and successful went hand in hand. But Martin lost his mind and wanted to hang of the coattails of RnB/pop stars and talk about his stupid divorce with his ex wife. Once you could stand by them and fight their corner cause they were underrated critically by the press and snobbish music fans, now that's out of the window.

It sounds like two different bands. Always get with the band that they are kind of ashamed of their first two albums, and are baffled that a lot of people prefer that stuff to their sell out years. I think just stick with the first two albums even give the third album Because of The Times a go as it's not half bad. Then leave it at unless you like gutless MOR rock.

Aha Shake Heartbreak is a masterpiece imo, such tough, melodic gems on that album like Taper Jean Girl, Milk, The Bucket, and Slow Night, So Long
