The Hindu times (demo) is VASTLY overrated on this forum.
Yep, I said it.

I think I love every version of that song. - Studio - Demo leak with keyboards - Semi acoustic bonus track - Jools Holland - Hearing it live at radio city in 2000

This'll be unpopular still but I'm glad they did try and replicate that sound because of the 4 singles we got. They reached for the stars again and fell well short but they also created 4 absolute classics. You compare that to now where Noel is making better albums but not one of the songs he makes now will be played as much as those HC singles in 20 years. I can agree with this. While a change in direction at the start of the millennium would have been nice, it seemed like it wasn’t in the cards, or when they had the cards they folded them early. I’m also grateful for some of the classics this album churned out. Yeah the worst thing about SOTSOG is that it killed Noels inspiration to try anything different. Sales mean alot to him and I think we'll eventually see him return to more traditional songs now (As much as he might deny it).

Hindu Times used to be one of my favourites, but nowadays I'm just angry that we never got to hear the demo version with Liam singing. Would have been fucking massive. I made a remix/mashup/rethink (whatever you wanna call it, haha) of the demo with Liam (and Noel) on vocals. It's on my YouTube channel if you're insterested

I get the Hindu Times demo love. It sounds more euphoric and just a better recording overall.

It's Getting Better (Man!!) is the second best Oasis song. Which is only topped by All Around the World.

Don't see how DBTT was a "return to form" or how HC is far and away the worst album as some might say. For me they have a combined LPs worth of good/great songs (TUTS, Lyla, TIOBI, LTBTL, POTQ and GGTIA for DBTT and SCYHO. Songbird, Little By Little and BOADC from HC) that would make an good album. I will also say nothing is offensively bad on either album, the throwaway tracks on DBTT is just as middling as those on HC imo.

Both sold almost a million copies in the UK. Both are around the 3 million mark globally. Good honest days work.

A Liam sung 'Record Machine' would have been the #1 single that 'Dig Out Your Soul' was missing.
I hate all involved in screwing that one up.

Fade In/Out drags on the album and the live version at the G-Mex in 97 is ok but isn't the best song of the night..almost verging on the worst

As much as I look forward to the Knebworth doc, I must say that I was never too impressed with the concert in general. I really hate the harmonica on some of the songs, it doesn't do nothing for me but ruin the songs. I don't mind the strings though. Still I would definitely buy a vinyl release of it if this happens.

The first line of Cigs & Alcohol 'Is it my imagination / Or have I finally found something worth living for?' is one of my favourite Oasis lyric. Despite this, i never really get into this tune and i don't really know why. I have to admit i sometimes skip the song when it come in my playlist.

Songbird is nothing special... it's quite forgettable... I always felt like Noel was trying to boost Liam's confidence in writing songs by saying how extraordinary it was. It's 2 minutes long, 2 chords, very Liam lyrics. Meh.
Born on a Different Cloud is great though! Still one of my favourite Oasis songs. I know Liam pinched some Lennon references for the lyrics, but I don't care.
Keep the Dream Alive is appalling...
Three unpopular opinions in one post!!

Oasis should've performed at Glastonbury '97 and it would've been their greatest concert of all time.

Oasis should've performed at Glastonbury '97 and it would've been their greatest concert of all time. Pretty sure that they were approached by organiser, but they (especially Noel's head) were over the top at that time and Noel wouldn't have accepted the offer having a bitter memory of 1995.

This is a bit too far But I do think that one and I'm Outta Time are on a different level to anything else's done with Oasis, they're the only ones I'd put up there with the Noel stuff (not the very best, but still) Songbird's a nice tune but always seemed a bit too overhyped to me

Just, nah. Too cliche.
