Repetitive lyrics were common around that time.
Cast No Shadow RNRS Listen Up
I think Cast No Shadow is the worst Oasis song when it comes to repetitive lyrics.
The song just drags.

Morning Glory the song is not as good as people make it out to be. Lyrics are repetitive and the music sounds so basic. It NEVER features on any playlists for that album I make Well... this is early era Oasis we are talking about here. I've always viewed Morning Glory as a natural progression of what was going on with Columbia, but you probably dislike that one as well. You'd be right. Don't get me wrong, live Columbia is great, on the album? Shouldn't have been there, 4 other tracks should be on Definitely Maybe over that

Who Feels Love? is not a bad song and sonically it's actually one of the better ones they ever recorded.

I like Soldier On. Nice melody, eerie vibe, decent production - sure, if you look at it from the lens of "Should this be the last song from the band that made What's the Story?", then it's disappointing, but so would most songs. I think it's a nice atmospheric way to close an album. I agree. Had it been preceded by Record Machine and Come on Outside, like it was allegedly supposed to, then it would've worked better since you would have two songs that have a lot of energy and ride a high emotional wave, and then it comes crashing down with Soldier On. It fits the apocalyptic theme of DOYS perfectly.

The best Gallagher related release of the past 3 years is still D'You Know What I Mean? (2016 Rethink) and subsequent video.

Soldier On is excellent.
Born On A Different Cloud is a Lennon-pastiche piece of shit.

Personally I could never get past the Dear Prudence lift and the fact it all sounded a bit too 'let's do a Beatles-in-Rishikesh song!' Noel did an acoustic version that was ok though.

I don't know about a Dear Prudence lift since The Turning's outro has that covered. The song is good and an interesting experiment in chopping and screwing guitars & messing with electronics, but the quote that Noel had about how he came up with the song is likely what fuels the "Beatles-in-Rishikesh" comparisons when he talked about visiting the temples in Thailand got vibes from there that inspired it.

Um, think the Dear Prudence steal is way more blatant on WFL - just makes the song sound like a parody IMHO. Never read that Noel quote - all opinion is based on the song itself. Can you seriously not hear the Dear Prudence bit?

I can hear it a little bit with the gradually rising intro and a little in the rhythm, but not to the point where I'd call Who Feels Love? a complete Dear Prudence rip-off.

I've never thought Who Feels Love? sounds like Dear Prudence. Likewise. I've never once thought the two were similar.

It's just the instrumental break I think, with the descending chord sequence. There are tonnes of Beatles and Oasis songs that use the same pattern though. The rest of the song doesn't sound like Dear Prudence at all imo.

I generally rate MG as the top Oasis album... but I think I enjoy BHN more.
At least I think I listen to tracks from it more often.
