Today there's an article on The Guardian that deals with singers losing their voice due to suboptimal technique. Even though the article focuses for the most part on opera singers, the interesting bit is that it seems to be a problem that affects artists across all genres and seems somewhat of a cultural issue that started in the 19th century: we expect singers to sing loud and dramatically and that ruins their voices. The article also deals with voice restoration techniques such as surgery and voice lessons (with many claiming that injury is inevitable and therefore surgery is needed). Some food for thought.

After seeing some videos of the recent gigs, my thought for the day is, please, have a rest Liam and save yourself for Reading/Leeds.

I've just been informed the Liam gig I'm going to this October is a fancy dress Haloween party also. My sweet lord.

Don't think wearing standard '50 year old aging rocker manwear' will help me stand out as being dressed up as Noel. I'm definitely not dressing up. The organisers can feck off on that one.

I really hope both are streamed! Yes, Him and Debbie need wear something besides black and navy. Surely, he's gotten his $800 worth out of it. I know it's cheesy but I'm so glad LG is getting so much love from fans..he really deserves it and needs it..

He looked a little bit taken back by it. I'm so glad he's receiving so much love from the fans lately, he's making incredible music at the moment so he deserves it

Liam's voice wasn't fucked for those gigs in Asia. He just couldn't be arsed playing in Manila etc. Listen to him last night at a big gig, he sounds fine

Never thought we'd get him back, is he 90s era Liam? Is he fuck, but is he the best we've had since 2000? Fucking to right he is. You can see the burst of life in him, i don't know what sorcery he has pulled to do what he's doing with his voice but i fucking love it! Not only that but the perception of the general public has completely changed, I've spent years championing Liam when everyone thought he was a vagina, telling them there is far more to him than you think, listening to the endless "Well Noel is better, Liam's a vagina." Seeing that shift in public perception warms the ol' cockles I'll tell you that. I enjoyed and stuck through the Beady Eye era, was some decent stuff in those albums, saw them 5 times, but coming of the back of Oasis, was always going to be ridiculed. Was front and centre for Liam at Glasto this year, was almost as close to the feeling of seeing Oasis way back.
We're probably never gonna get Oasis again, and I'm alright with that, I'm just happy people are finally seeing Liam for what he brought to that band, and what he can bring on his own, The resurrection is definitely on.
Yes I'm fucking steaming, yes i don't post much, but I've been here for a long time and wanted to chip in! Keep going Rkid

Been listening to a few of Liam's live performances of his new songs and So far i have not heard anything that has come from him that is worthy of getting excited about. Yes, i understand that Liam is back in the public eye, and he is singing better than he has in the last 10 years, but that means nothing if he doesn't have the songs to back it up.
I think everyone is caught up in the "Liam's Back" storm, and are being blinded by how mediocre and bland his new material is. After the album has come out and the dust has settled maybe then more people will agree that his songs aren't that great.
I'll start with Wall of Glass. This was the first thing we heard from his solo career. When this hit the internet everyone lost their marbles. What's so special about this song? It's mediocre at best and goes nowhere. It doesn't have a real chorus and is lacking that fist pumping feeling you should be hearing from our kids first single. Lacklustre tune.
Then we started hearing some of the other new songs from his live performances.
Greedy Soul - This is Liam by the numbers. This is the one tune that i actually don't mind. The recent Reading Festival performance was great. It really reminded me of The Mexican with the brass section.
Bold - It's alright, It's alight now....Lay It On Me Yeah, Oh Yeah - Classic Liam lyrics. Another song that tries to be epic but fails in everyway. It starts to build up and goes nowhere.
For What It's Worth - If the Liam from 1996 went into the future and saw his future self performing this, he would slap him. Another song for him to be compared to Lennon. I almost fell asleep listening to this. All you insomniacs should listing to this song if you need to sleep. Forgettable
Chinatown - What the hell is this? How can people say this is a good song? The lyics are cringe worthy and horrible. And it's possibly one of his worst vocal performances on record.
You Better Run - Man of Misery V2.0 enough said.
Universal Gleam - This is the definition of a song that goes absolutely nowhere. You are waiting for something to happen but it never does. If i was a gig this would be the song where i would go get a beer or take a piss. This is tough song to get through.
Paper Crown - Toliet Paper more like it.
I Get By - Ain't Got Nothin V2.0 enough said.
Some final thoughts. Liam needs to ditch whoever is helping him write this tunes and get someone in who is a half decent songwriter. And don't get me started on the band (if you can call them that) they need more rehearsing. They don't gel as a group, the backing singer is horrible, the drummer can't keep time, and the 2 guitarists look like they about to fall over from boredom.
I was looking forward to Liam's career as a solo artist, but unfortunately i don't think it will last that long, which is a shame.
