i've heard this so many times but it's funny, personally i really dig the chasing yesterday version. I miss the guitarsolo. It really feels like it's lacking something, but maybe I was just used too much to the guitarsolo. Nah, it's more ethereal in its current form.

I think it's excellent still, the only thing I'd change is the nah nah nahs for horns on Heat of the Moment. The album just 'sounds' so good and fresh, unlike a lot of the previous albums. I've always thought 'what could they have put in that bit instead'? And you're dead right, horns would have worked a treat. For me CY is better than the first album and gives us three gold-standard "standard Noel Gallagher" tunes in the shape of You Know We Can't Go Back, Lock All The Doors and Dying Of The Light. I can understand why some people think these are too obvious to enjoy them but to me they brought back some of the magic of pre-2000 Oasis. Other stand-outs for me are While The Song Remains The Same and Ballad Of The Mighty I. I can't really listen to Girl With X-Ray Eyes as it's too much of a Bowie rip-off. Actually, I can't listen to any of it at the moment because the CD got scratched and now sticks on the 'Na na na na' bit in Heat of the Moment, playing it repeatedly. Although it does come in useful for punishing the kids when they've been particularly naughty.

It was a grower on me. At first I questioned it in comparison to his debut, but now I can't even listen to his debut now, way too overproduced.
This one is much better.

I've not listened to it properly since well before Christmas I may give it a listen later. Always felt that it is better than HFB though and that apart from The girl with the x ray eyes all the songs are at worst listenable whereas with HFB I would skip at least 3

Never listen to this album anymore, hard to believe it was a year ago so maybe that's why I don't listen to it. I need something new, come on Noel you vagina, don't you know you exist just to make me ephemerally happy?

I don't think I've listened to a single track from it in 2016. Maybe "Ballad Of The Mighty I" once.

To me, it still stands as the best record that Noel has penned and released since BHN. Like HFB1, all of the songs are solid, but the weak tracks are still quite good and have some good redeeming factors to them. However, I like how CY expounds on some of the experimenting that he did on the HFB1, and sounds fresh while doing so. The Right Stuff, While the Song Remains the Same, Riverman, and Ballad of the Mighty are four really good pieces of music, and good songs in general, that, along with In the Heat of the Moment (solid song as well), with its electronic bassline, sound like a good step forward, while The Mexican and The Girl With X-Ray Eyes take a page out of the HFB1 book, and the rest are very Noel-like but sound good and fresh. If he can continue what he worked with this album, I think we'll be in for a really good third album. It'll be especially interesting if he is going through the writing process like he says he is, but this is a Gallagher-related release, so we'll have to wait and see

The Mexican still seriously sounds like a Beady Eye song. I'm not joking or trolling when I make that comparison.
And because I hear shit like Face The Crowd, etc within The Mexican, makes me dislike it. Annoying as fuck.

Still don't think BOTMI is a highlight on the album. I'd have 6 tunes over it, a bit like with What A Life on the first album. It's just not the kind of songs I want to hear from Noel.

Having listening to it again, the whole album, for the first time in a long time this year I found that I got bored of Riverman, The Girl With The X-Ray Eyes, The Right Stuff, The Mexican really quickly on the second listen through. Because of this, I created a new playlist on my Ipod and this is how my Chasing Yesterday goes (sounds fresh to me this way): Do The Damage In The Heat Of The Moment She Must Be One Of Us (I know it's a demo but it still works to my mind) Lock All The Doors The Dying Of The Light While The Song Remains The Same Come On Outside The Mexican You Know We Can't Go Back The Ballad Of The Mighty I I find this playlist works really well, but it might just be me

I still really like Ballad Of The Mighty I and listen to that one a lot. It's one of the few I often listen to. I know that now that the more sunny weather is coming, You Know We Can't Go Back will be one I'll be listening to more, even though I never listen to it now.
