Somebody like Liam Tweeting about it is another matter though, especially in this day and age where people now have a platform to be offended. Liam probably doesna care though. |

Somebody like Liam Tweeting about it is another matter though, especially in this day and age where people now have a platform to be offended. Liam probably doesna care though. I miss the days where they were confined to letters pages of whichever newspaper they subscribed to, or occasionally points of view. I'll never forget an episode of I think it was 'Have Your Say' where a woman with a broad Mancunian accent was attacking the Irish writers of Father Ted (who were in the studio as well) because they were mocking "her children's heritage"- and people say it only happens in US cities like Boston  |

The tweet doesn't seem homophobic to me when you keep in mind Liam was the ass pincher in Oasis - Noel frequently mentioned his propensity to it and it's been filmed zillions of times. Edit: Based on some of the tweets I've seen since, seems like the issue may be the phrase "batty boys"? I've never heard that term, so have no idea what it is or how it is viewed. I'm American, so might just be slang we don't use. Not naive - I'm typing this up as I sit in a cafe in the Castro District in San Francisco.  |

Can't believe people are defending the tweet. I don't believe Liam is homophobic, but that tweet certainly was. Regardless of circumstance it would be offensive, but in light of very recent events it was pretty much moronic.

This kind of transgresive behaviour is typical for him.
In his head he would have probably justified it with:
"Why should I change my behaviour, because of an other mass shooting in the US? It's got nothing to do with each other."
Then he realized it was probably a bad idea and realized that this tweet lacked an ability to emphatize with all sorts of people who feel affected.
Is it possible that the tweet got deleted by Twitter?
