Forgot that back in June 1997 Noel wasn't a big fan of Embrace- talking to the NME he suggested "That c**t takes singing lessons" and stated 'All You Good Good People' was shit- Oasis interviews blogspot (near the end of the article) Not exactly. He said The Last Gas was shit (which it is) but he's actually more complimentary & conciliatory than I remember from the time; if you read the interview: "'Last Gas', the singing wasn't much cop and the guitar was a bit heavy metal, but I like 'One Big Family', (starts singing) 'We got family', it's good, yeah."

If you read the question and response above that he also states the "first one was shit" , which the NME correctly point out in the next Question lead in was the Fierce Panda released All You God Good People. It is this question he references Danny McNamara's singing as well, with the Question being "Have you heard Embrace"? Then in the next Question he references The Last Gas, etc.

I get what he's saying, they do write songs that you can imagine Noel writing, yet weirdly, they're not so derivative of Oasis at the same time.

Have no idea why Coldplay let this song go, I like Embrace (and DFM is a hidden gem) but Coldplay's version is much better - would have been great on X&Y. I've always considered all forms of "Gravity" to be generic and boring. I'm glad Coldplay moved on away from it. I'd rather have heard "A Ladder To The Sun" or a studio recording of "Pour Me". Very dark tune that last one. It's got edge. I never used to like Gravity but one day it hit me - maybe it was the mood I was in, but I has stuck with me ever since. I'll have to look for those other songs, I don't think I've heard them. Wasn't How You Saw The World also of X&Y era? That would have been excellent on there.

The Last Gas shit?? It's an absolutely massive cross between The Stone Roses and My Bloody Valentine! Also, Noel could take some inspiration from these three Embrace songs from their last album cycle. They expertly combine the traditional Britpop/indie sound with modern electronic influences.

First two Embrace records are quite good, actually even though the singer is a bit shit.
The rest of their career is problematic though, really uninspired and going the coldplay route.
