Out of these I'd say Coldplay.

Do people actually think Oasis was the best band of the 00's?

if ur band isnt included sorry obviously i can only include the main ones but if anything really obvious is left ill re do it No Arcade Fire? Huge oversight. They only won Album of the Year for "The Suburbs" and have a couple classic albums. Some of these bands you listed vanished like a fart in the wind. The libertines, Hard-fi, Razorlight, etc. You gotta have staying power to be among the best of a decade.

It's the Libertines. There's actually no competition. I don't care that they only made two records, they have hundreds of songs and devolved into several noteworthy spin-off bands.
There's a reason every 00s band that debuted after the Libertines sounds like the Libertines

Radiohead Coldplay Embrace Sigur Ros Muse Arcade Fire
Btw, post-Pop U2 is a joke. Like 00's Oasis, they tried so hard to replicate their glory days of the 80's, except that their albums were pretty dull and generic, especially considering the adventurous and mainstream-flouting attitude they adopted in the 90's. However, I'll give some credit to No Line, it's pretty daring compared to the two others they released during that time period. But even that doesn't deviate too far from their basic formula.

Especially in America where their impact was little to none.

Coldplay/Red Hot Chili Peppers RHCP's three album run is almost flawless, as is most of Coldplay's four album run. Both bands carried the torch for rock music in the mainstream very well while making music that has seen the sound of both bands undergo changes throughout the decade to produce some of the best material they've ever done. Honestly, it's completely even between the two, if we're talking about 2000-2009 for the 2000s, but with 2000-now, I'd give the advantage to the Chilis, even if they haven't released a studio album since 2011. That last part will change this year though.

I also have no idea what bands you mean that apparently sound so much like The Libertines carryusall ? I personally think a lot of the contemporary British bands that are popular sound very Coldplay and U2-ish, with some of them wanting to be Oasis and failing (Dma's, Catfish and the Bottlemen)

Coldplay is so overrated, it's insane. I think Arcade Fire has been the most consistent band of the decade.

Coldplay.
I might say Radiohead in the future but I still haven't heard everything I need to hear for a qualified assessment.

By the way, is "the 2000s" referring to the period 2000-2009 or 2000-now?

Ok to clarify, perhaps I was a bit Anglo-centric in what I said. Fair enough outside of the UK perhaps my statement doesn't hold up quite so well. But in the UK? Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, for your delectation:
Arctic Monkeys; Razorlight; The View; The Holloways; Larrikin Love; The Courteeners; The Fratellies; Milburn; The Rakes; The Rifles; The Enemy; The Paddingtons; Littl'ans; Reverand and the Makers; The Twang; The Kooks; Good Shoes; The Metros; The Others
The Others. The fucking others. Of all the bands of the 00s to get a record deal for sort-of-knowing-Pete-Doherty. McGee's complicit. Endeacott's complicit. And I'm not even really getting into Pete's mates, or spin-off bands, or regional bands. Just fairly big bands that put out records people actually bought. I've always stuck up for this sort of music, but making that list... I mean the Others... What did Britain do to deserve that? I mean obviously so much shit; Iraq and Yewtree and expenses and cash-for-honours and phone-tapping and celebrity big brother and only ever making six episodes of any TV show and that sex that guy had. But still... The Others

I would have voted for The Brian Jonestown Massacre but since they're not on there I'll vote for The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

The White Stripes and Arcade Fire were the two stand out live acts. And i had the pleasure of seeing both multiple times.
