U2's Beautiful Day, though very clearly their death knell, the point when U2 lost all of their ambition and stopped trying to confound and started trying to write "classics" again, still sounds amazingly uplifting and endlessly optimistic. If only the rest of All That You Can't Leave Behind, or their subsequent albums, had been this good! Here's a list of the ten post-Pop songs that are actually worth your time: Beautiful Day Stuck in a Moment... Walk On City of Blinding Lights No Line on the Horizon Magnificent Moment of Surrender Fez-Being Born Invisible Sleep Like a Baby Tonight The only thing necessary from U2 is 'One'. After that, they can suck it.

Its def a bad sign that since downloading The Stone Roses new single the day it came out, listening to it once and I've never bothered to try it again. That's kinda sad but the song did nothing for me.

To me the song is a one and done. It'll live on my iTunes but if it doesn't come on at random, I'll never select it to be played myself. Hopefully future material is better (but probably not or it would have been released instead).

Consider that their two previous masterpieces came out in 1987 and 1991, it's amazing they could still craft an awesome album in 2000. Listened to it to death for most of 2000 and 2001. The elevation your was epic.

Don't get me wrong, there are some really good songs on there, but you can't help but feel that it was the beginning of their descent into mediocrity. The album also takes a nosedive starting with Wild Honey and never really recovers.

There are a good portion of duds and overproduction but I have a guilty pleasure for Vertigo, Miracle Drug and Original of the Species. Also Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own is a damn good track.

FILL UP YER BRIGADINE SAILS!! That was the song the Happy Mondays played Tony Wilson without telling him who it was after he had royally slagged the Roses off and he loved it- He admitted he was wrong and had them play it on "The Other Side of Midnight", with stills later used in the LP inner sleeve

I'm listening on vinyl, and even the shitty £7.99 repress I got from Amazon sounds good enough. Vinyl is such a great format if you have the right equipment. Would love an original press one day... when I got the big money, ya know. "Next year we'll be millionaires rodney!"
