Yeah screw the song but I forgot that bird from aqua was a beauty Well I have no comment on the woman as I am one myself. But the song is so bad and I don't even know why it got to number one like it did. Well it's rather catchy and it hardly takes great quality to top the charts.

I wouldn't know what gets to number one in the singles chart these days anyway as the songs are usually so bad anyway.

Barbie Girl is like mozart compared to some of the stuff today At least it has some melody to it, albeit very annoying.

This will probably get wrong thread but can someone recommend ambient without vocals akin to that of Aphex Twin's early stuff?

Silence while being hit with Argentite? That's impossible, Sonata Ártica.

Who is this guy, he is everywhere? He's an actor called James Buckley, best known for playing Jay in The Inbetweeners (check it out ) He's known to be a britpop / band fan etc...

Haha, yeah, I actually know him when he was younger. I didn't recognize him with beard.
He seems like great guy and we were talking about Miles making MOR music but he doesn't have a problem to joke about it which is great

This is not just a cool song, it's also written and performed by my brother! I'm a bit biased, but the way the second solo comes in a bit unexpectedly is... really nice actually.

Spurred on by Dead Can dance's brillant Within the realm of a dying sun and Steven Wilson (not at the same time mind), what is the most unappreciated album you own?

I'm not really a fan of Whitesnake apart from Here I Go Again, however, I was sad to read in the news earlier that their guitarist Bernie Marsden has died at the age of 72 after an illness. He co wrote Fool For Your Loving and Here I Go Again and he also had a solo career. Anyway, R.I.P

Been reading up and listening to Labi Siffre a lot recently, a fantastic singer-songwriter and criminally underrated. Folk and soul at its best.

Anyone got any recommendations for good bands from the last few years?
The only act I really like in recent years is Young Father but everything else is just not clicking.

Anyone got any recommendations for good bands from the last few years? The only act I really like in recent years is Young Father but everything else is just not clicking. Definitely struggling with straight up rock/indie bands The Lathums, The Snuts and Inhaler all had nice debuts but poor sophomore efforts. I dig the post-punk scene, Fontaines D.C. (probably my favourite current act) and The Murder Capital in particular, Viagra Boys aren't bad either, and Deadletter sound promising. Black Country, New Road are pretty good, and on the weirder side. Not as hyped nor interesting but I like Do Nothing too. Black Pumas are also very good, although more on the R&B/Soul spectrum. The best suggestions for me would be non-english/american acts though. Balthazar, Feu! Chatterton and Mdou Moctar come to mind. All very different but worthy of attention I'd say.
