Brilliant acoustic rendition of a underrated Ride gem. Great but i miss Andy's vocal (fine if he doesn't feel up to it anymore though).

Texas members, help. I'm sure parts of this were filmed in Texas:

Ok, final go:
1. Reflektor 2. We Exist 3. Here Comes the Night Time I 4. Normal Person 5. Porno 6. Joan of Arc
1. Here Comes the Night Time II 2. Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice) 3. It's Never Over (Hey Orpheus) 4. You Already Know 5. Afterlife 6. Supersymmetry
As much as I love Flashbulb Eyes, it's not quite up to the standards of the rest of the album. Plus the two equal sides is more aesthetically pleasing, and this flows really well.

Taking a crash course in Richard Ashcroft's solo work, starting with Alone with Everybody. I must say, AWE is better than I expected, though it rarely escapes sounding like a compilation of Urban Hymns b-sides that were left off for good reason. It's quite generic, the lyrics are consistently weak, and the ambition and emotional toil of UH is sorely missed. That being said, there are some great moments, but you can't help but think that some songs, like New York, Crazy World, and On a Beach, are practically begging for Nick McCabe to add his sonic grooves and send these tunes into the stratosphere.

But that story makes me laugh, like playing minor chords is a sacrilege for a blues player or something

I was in for a shock when I put on Richard Ashcroft's second solo album, Human Conditions, in the CD player. Three songs in, I heard the opening strumming of the eight-minute snorefest Check the Meaning! I freaked out and quickly realized that I'd accidentally turned on the "repeat" button of my CD player. Check the Meaning had been playing over and over again! So I turned off "repeat" and let the player move onto the next track. But I hardly noticed the difference.

I'm enjoying that album more nowadays than I was when it first came out, 02-04. It is interesting and of course it has its flaws and quirks but also has its merits. Probably my favourite Ashcroft solo album.

The more I think about it the more I realize Airbag is my favourite Radiohead song.

Amazing song, even greater in its live form - that sequencer arpeggio they added to the live rendition gives it a bit more focus than the hazy album version (the looser album version is more in keeping with the rest of The Unforgettable Fire). But fucking hell, U2 were unbelievably great.

Anyone else as excited for those Verve reissues as much as I am? Let's break down what they will probably contain: ASIH: Disc 1: original album Disc 2: 1. All in the Mind 2. One Way to Go 3. A Man Called Sun 4. She's a Superstar 5. Feel 6. Gravity Grave 7. Endless Life 8. A Man Called Sun (live) 9. Gravity Grave (live encore) 10 - 15. Voyager 1 EP Disc 3: No Come Down compilation album, plus Virtual World (acoustic) Disc 4: Maybe the Wigan demos in better quality, or anything we haven't heard before. I suppose there's a studio version of South Pacific floating around? Maybe another song we haven't heard of, or studio outtakes? They must have hours and hours of jams, so there must be some amazing bits in there that can be released. I'd be cool if they released a bunch of long jam excerpts Ă la The Thaw Session and made that Disc 4. There are few things from this era that weren't magical. ANS: Disc 1: original album Disc 2: 1. Let the Damage Begin 2. You and Me 3. I See the Door 4. Little Gem 5. Dance on Your Bones 6. Back on My Feet Again 7. On Your Own (acoustic) 8. Monkey Magic 9. Grey Skies 10. Life's Not a Rehearsal 11. Country Song (ANS version, as the BSS b-side was recorded during the ANS sessions but later received overdubs) Disc 3: Unreleased songs like Change My Life and Black and Blue? Early versions of The Mover, Come On, and The Rolling People? Jam excerpts? Rough mixes? Obviously there must be a UH reissue also in the works, and the UH demos are a must. Even a Forth reissue would be top, there's an unreleased song called Mona Lisa, a "psychedelic" version of Rather Be, and a proper release for The Mover and Blue Pacific Ocean to be had! Suddenly the BHN reissue doesn't seem so exciting.

Speaking of the Verve, 'Slide Away' is transcendent in its sonic endeavors to blow you away completely. Just wish it along with the rest of the album was mastered abit louder (damn Leckie and his quiet mixes!).

I've just checked out what Blossoms have released so far. I really love the sound of Charlemagne and At Most a Kiss but the rest didn't impress me much. They have an album out in a few months so we'll see if they manage to put better material on there... I saw them supporting The Coral last month and they didn't impress me at all. Very Suede-like, I must say.

lubeck , your top 10 favourite Divine Comedy songs? It's difficult, because unlike Noel, Hannon just doesn't write shit songs. Jolly nice for an artist to only ever put good material out, but it doesn't half making top 10 lists difficult. I must say, I've not heard everything he's done yet - I'm sure there are countless gems hiding away - but, from what I've heard so far, I'll go: 1. A Lady of a Certain Age 2. Our Mutual Friend3. The Happy Goth4. The Beauty Regime (very important song, this - can you imagine how social media would gush with praise if someone like BeyoncĂŠ had released it?)5. Mastermind6. Middle-Class Heroes7. Songs of Love 8. Down In The Street Below9. Sweden10. If...

A truly beautiful song, one of the best of the last 10 years, along Archie, Marry Me by Alvvays (imo, of course). I wish Noel could write songs as good nowadays. 1. A Lady of a Certain Age 2. The Dogs and The Horses 3. A Woman of the World 4. A Mutual Friend 5. Down In The Street Below 6. Something for the Weekend 7. If... 8. Generation Sex 9. Perfect Lovesong 10. Tonight We Fly And I certainly forgot many... By the way, have you heard of the band Alvvays ?

Could you do us an introductory playlist, then I can give em a listen on Spotify?
