I'm not a huge fan of Foals but this one's great. The guitar riff sounds a bit The Edge-ish.

" Well I left home just a week before And I'd never ever kissed a woman before But Lola smiled and took me by the hand And said dear boy I'm gonna make you a man"

Nice selection on the Roses tune. I love the apocalyptic dance vibes they were going for, and the massive wall of sound with all of the crazy sound effects, backward guitars, and crashing drums and bass. Makes for a good driving song.

Makes for a good driving song. Yeah, totally agree. It also makes for a pretty fitting description of a certain Noel sung tune which was one of the many, many outtakes. Maybe it'll make the next one!

Completely drenched in sweat after freaking out to Arcade Fire for a while. A black room, headphones on full volume, and these tunes:
1. Reflektor 2. Keep the Car Running 3. Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out) 4. Here Comes the Night Time I 5. Black Mirror 6. It's Never Over (Hey Orpheus) 7. Rebellion (Lies) 8. Wake Up 9. No Cars Go 10. My Body is a Cage
Equals the best therapy going.

Can't see why you would, what with a new (and really good) Radiohead release barely a week old, and you having a much broader music taste than me anyway, but The Escapist, should you ever find yourself in need of a record to listen to from an artist you know nothing about, may I suggest... Produced by Nigel Godrich, and with Neil Hannon's darkest set of songs yet, I think you'll dig it. Apologies if seem a bit pushy. You don't have to listen to it - I mean, it's not Disintegration or anything - but I think it'd appeal to you. Certainly when I heard it, I was struck by how instrumental Godrich obviously has been in moulding Radiohead's sound. No electro beats or anything like that, because that's not the kind of stuff Hannon writes for, but you can definitely still tell it's a Godrich recording.

Ever felt like you consume music too quickly because you need to have an opinion on everything? Especially the "classics"? Slow down lads! There's nothing wrong with saying "I haven't heard The Dark Side of the Moon!" Savor what you're listening to right now. The other music isn't going anywhere, ya know.

theyknowwhatimean , I have heard of Divine Comedy but I've never really listened to them. I'll be glad to check that record out though if you recommend it It's rare that a band can get away with a literature-referencing name but they seem to have nailed it, so I look forward to seeing what else they can do. Yeah, Nigel definitely has a noticeable production sound, it's why I consider him as basically the sixth member of Radiohead (Stanley being he seventh). He did some great work with Beck also. I'm not sure I do have a broader taste tbh, the only genre that I like and (I'm guessing) you don't is electronica / IDM? Not heard much electronica, no (apart from a bit of Kraftwerk, stuff like that), but I think it's less to do with genre and more me being an old stick in the mud and just listening to old records. Almost feel a bit left out seeing you lot on here talking about Sigur Rós and other bands like that, that sound like they were named after a kind of Spanish lager, because it means nothing to me. I guess finding Oasis when I was still very young, and then listening to all the acts they claimed to be inspired by, going even further back, and hearing Noel's "in my day..." shtick all the time, has made me, much like a young Thom Yorke, "wish it was the Sixties" all the time, instead of being alert to what's going on in my time. And, of course, music's changed quite a lot since the dawn of the 2000s (where my wilful ignorance begins), so I've missed quite a bit actually, like the coming of rap (well into the mainstream, anyway) and the modern strands of art rock. RE the name 'Divine Comedy': in the 90s it was a sort of alter-ego for Neil Hannon; that of a pretentious Englishman from the 40s, tossing off literary references and winking at girls at parties (only to be ignored, of course, as all great alternative musicians invariably must). And so you had songs like 'The Pop Singer's Fear of the Pollen Count' and 'Songs of Love' (theme to Father Ted, but with words), where he pontificates on how every boy and girl seems to be running around everywhere in heat while songwriters are stuck alone writing about their subjects, all crooned in an exaggerated manner. By the time it got to this album, it was decided all that was getting a bit old hat, so he got Godrich in, and a lot of the "chamber pop" elements of his music (he's a massive Scott Walker fan) were replaced with darker tones, more fitting for a Radiohead record, and the wickedly funny lyrics became a bit more...solemn. The name Divine Comedy just stuck with him really.

My top 10 favourite T. Rex songs:
1. Telegram Sam 2. Mambo Sun 3. There Was A Time / Raw Ramp / Electric Boogie 4. Jeepster 5. Get It On 6. Ride A White Swan 7. The Slider 8. Rapids 9. Metal Guru 10. Tenement Lady
I love Bolan, but I didn't expect that to be that hard. Couldn't even find room for 20th Century Boy or Children of the Revolution. Or Cosmic Dancer!

Well worth it live from past experience, I saw The Divine Comedy at T in the Park in 1996 first time, then several times after with the last one being Leicester Summer Sundae in 2007, so may go next year as well. Definitely a great artist that if you are into you should see live at least once

You can say whatever you want you want about U2, but they're still a superb live act.
The Edge is such a monster.
