Thoughts? For me, DOYS has the worst two tracks (Muffins, Reality) found here by a wide margin. Definitely Don't Believe the Truth. I can't listen to the last 3 songs on that album, and The Nature of Reality is growing on me. |

Also, Let There Be Love is slow, plodding, and poorly produced, but it's still a better song at its core than anything off the end of DOYS. |

Born On A Different Cloud, Better Man and Part Of The Queue are the only three of those songs I wouldn't immediately skip if they came up on shuffle.

Oasis 2000-2009 was a hotbed of bad decisions, broken promises, crooked democracy, self-sabotage, and half-baked effort.
Much like the United States government these days.

Probably his best vocal album since SOTSOG. In part I agree with you... his vocals on Rapture, High Horse, and Falling Down are ace.  Can't say the same for Muffins, Reality, or Soldier On. although, those songs are terrible... so that might be skewing my perception. |

Soldier On is the only song I can listen to after Falling Down. DOYS 2nd half is abysmal.

boy with the blues is a classic example of Liams songs have the potential to be good but it misses the mark because theres no chorus and its got copy / paste tendencies.
it has verse, bridge.....then back to verse again with lines repeated over and over to close out the song.
could be one of his best and in a way it still is but it could be great.

They found the late night jam track collecting dust somewhere and decide it was fit for the album. Maybe. I think it's better conceived. I think Better Man doesn't really have a plan. Its plan is to just start. But Soldier On in terms of arrangement and production feels better thought out, not overly long, not trying to do too much. It knows what it is, and works within it, and doesn't overstay its welcome. Better Man is a hot mess. There are things going on inside of it, I don't know how or why they thought of it. It's just not very well thought out. |
