Thought I'd put this here. Seen a bunch of lame Bowie covers lately. This isn't one of them.

Picked up the new album the other day, haven't listened to it yet......wasn't too wild on the The Next Day but heard good things about Blackstar.
Dunno if anyone here watches the show 'Vinyl' on HBO, but, David Bowie was featured on last night's episode......made me appreciate the song 'Suffragate City' more.
God bless.

Blackstar is a good (albeit slightly lugubrious in places) album. I wasn't too crazy about The Next Day either. Didn't like most of the songs on it that much. Thanks for mentioning Vinyl btw, downloaded it weeks ago but keep on forgetting to watch it.

God bless.

I had a dream tonight. There was a trumpet lying on the floor, I picked it up and tried to get a sound out of it but didn't succeed. Then, David Bowie passed by and laughed at my failure. It was a charming laugh though.

It was a charming laugh though. I've read that Akiko Yano (Japanese musician, Ryuichi Sakamoto's ex-wife) recalls one of her memories with Bowie was, that he had her daughter on his shoulder and walked down on the street in Roppongi, Tokyo. Bowie exhibition in Groningen was until today. I couldn't make my 3rd time visit, but I'm happy that I could see all those stuff he left behind.

God, is there anything better than Bowie in the 70s? I thought I knew how great he was by now, but from time to time I stumble upon another song or video I didn't know and I realise: He was and to me still is even greater than I thought he was. Like this gem:

It's weird how, once the singing bit starts, Crosby never looks at him once. That shot at 3:32, where it looks like Bowie's getting a bit hacked off, always makes me smile.

Thanks for the tag, mystoryisgory. No Plan sounds great! It's amazing that at 68, and after living the life he had, his voice held up as well as it did at the end.

What a fantastic surprise even though I knew they were going to release unreleased stuff, didn't realize it would be today. He has risen!

The Escapist, have you heard Bowie's 'Low'? I think you'd like it.

They pulled in just behind the bridge. He lays her down. He frowns. "Gee, my life's a funny thing! Am I still too young?" He kissed her then and there. She took his ring, took his babies; It took him minutes, took her nowhere. Heaven knows she'd've taken anything, but All night she wants the young American...
