I'm listening to Beady Eye's BE album right now and before this I listened to Different Gear Still Speading. It's not too often that I listen to them these days but when I do I actually enjoy them.

It's 11 years ago today since Beady Eye played at the Empress Ballroom. One of their best ever ones I think. Also, I forgot to mention yesterday that it was 11 years since they released Bring The Light as their first single.

Still should have been the first thing we heard from the band. I don't care if its similar to Oasis and they wanted to change it up with a "new" band but they needed to kick the door down with swagger and bravado.

I don't know why they decided to release Bring The Light as their first single as it certainly wasn't the best choice. I know that they wanted to sound different but releasing something like that for a first single wasn't a good idea at the time and they needed something a bit more familiar.

They wanted to be βdifferentβ. They wanted to show the world they werenβt gonna be just βOasis Liteβ which is exactly who they were no matter how many ways we alter their debut albums track list. It was a bold plan but it didnβt have the desired effect because so many fans and media outlets crushed them for that late 50s jangly piano stomper (which I do enjoy, especially live). Four Letter Word SHOULD have been the first thing we heard to create initial positive spin. They got off to back to back rough starts with a band name people mocked and then a first single that didnβt grab the masses. Beady Eye was always going to be rough sledding because the lack of a legit songwriter. No idea why only now Andy is in a purple patch between his solo stuff and Glock.

That's very true, it's ok to sound different but you've got to have a really good song that will appeal to the masses. However, I don't think that Bring The Light is a bad song in general but it's not really the ideal song to release as a single really and definitely not for a debut single. And, I agree they did get off to a rough start with their band name etc.

4 Letter Word is a belter. I've come to love it. BUT the drums are so quiet in the mix and they sound monumental. Such a shame because this tune could have been a great.

My ear just wants a bit more kick from those drums. Everyone on that track is playing brilliantly. Just could have had more of a kick!

Maybe you're right about the drums on the track but like I said I haven't really noticed. Chris is a brilliant drummer though.

It's been several years since I've listened to BDI. And it'll probably be several more.
So average it's disgusting.

Four Letter World is the fucking bollocks. One of the best tunes post Oasis.
Remember being so excited watching the videos of their first ever gig. Good times.

I've always loved Beady Eye's version of Sons Of The Stage. But I'm glad that it was only put out as a b.side and nothing more as I've always thought that bands and artists should put their own songs on albums and not covers.

Think that the second album is very good. Just listened to it in its entirety with bonus tracks the other day. I rate it highly. It could be one of them albums in about 20 years time people go back to it and actually appreciate it more that they did at the time. Like a forgotten gem.

I've always loved the second album from them it certainly has some great little gems on there and it's a shame that the album didn't do as well as hoped.
