DGSS being dreadful wouldn't render BE irrelevant. That makes no sense whatsoever. It won't be long before this thread is populated by a few people pointing out how much they don't like Beady Eye. Which seems a good use of time. I'd predict your right as it's been the same for 5 years now.. same comments cycling around and around and around.. if you don't like something cool.. we all like different stuff for different reasons.. Doesn't mean any one is right or wrong everyone entitled to their own opinions.. Discussion obv what it's all about but is sad when people have to look good by trying to make people look bad. I agree with Tom, however the mainstream didnt cared In 2011 and it wouldnt give another try In 2013. However I would rather listen to BE than DGSS. I still havent done so In ages.

I'm not sure I agree. While Definitely Maybe is one of the best debuts in music... DGSS is probably one of the worst. Too long. Too many bland tracks. Too retro in sound. Based solely on the music, I'd say Beady Eye got all the love they deserved. I agree that BE was a better album as a whole, but it really is irrelevant after the dreadful DGSS. DGSS being dreadful wouldn't render BE irrelevant. That makes no sense whatsoever. It won't be long before this thread is populated by a few people pointing out how much they don't like Beady Eye. Which seems a good use of time. Oh Tom... how I've missed your witty banter. Before DGSS, people had an honest curiosity about what a non-Noel involved album would sound like. This led to decent sales and, I'd say, generally positive reviews. But people quickly realized the album wasn't that great. When the next cycle came around with BE no one cared outside of hardcore fans, and the album tanked. 50 Cent selling cassettes out of his trunk in the 90's thinks BE tanked commercially. I don't hate Beady Eye at all actually. They just didn't give us very much good music. A lot of average, but little good. Just my opinion I guess. Carry on.

I always thought DGSS was good recieved. They bad luck that Adele released 21 at the same time. That's why it wasn't #1. Then Noel came with NGHFB and they got worse. That's what I thought.
I don't really care what the media or press say, I love Be Here Now, Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants, Rattle And Hum, Pop and Second Coming.

I've been wanting to say this for a while and just realized this thread is made for this.
Now BE is great I love it, really. But DGSS? Jesus! And Liam has the balls to claim Noel's busy being beige... let's see:
-Millionaire -Wind Up Dream -The Roller -Beatles and Stones -For Anyone -Three Ring Circus -Standing on the Edge of the Noise (how can a song with such a title be so bland is beyond me)
Those songs are boring at best. The only songs that matter on that record are Four Letter Word, Bring the Light, Kill for a Dream, Wigwam, The Beat Goes On and The Morning Son. That's six songs...
Now I get they had to get those out of their system and try to see if their left-overs from Oasis would make them the biggest band in the world but that record is just bad and has 0 direction. It's just a mess.
Now BE was good and I found it really sad that they packed it in after that. I would have loved them to go on in that direction. To me it feels like, for Liam, what counts is his popularity more than the music. Because the music was good but they had a terrible promo with his divorce and Gem's injury taking over the media. It's a shame really. You had three gifted musicians and Liam actually caring again (his voice was pretty good at the end).

Wind Up Dream, Beatles and Stones, Three Ring Circus and Standing on the Edge of the Noise are the most soulless rock and roll wannabe songs these lots have come up with (apart from Hung in a Bad Place).

It'd be quite funny if Liam pulled a Lock All the Doors and resurrected Alice, Reminisce, Take Me, and Acoustic for his upcoming solo album.

I'm personally really looking forward to the sequel of Little James, the one written for Gene: Teen Gene.

Just a question: is it weird to add a cover to your album? Would Liam get away with it?

Just a question: is it weird to add a cover to your album? Would Liam get away with it? It all depends on how good said cover is. But if that cover has a certain John Lennon listed as a co-writer, he'd be better off ditching it.

I still think that Sons of the Stage should have been on DGSS. The problem with that IMO only is that it was the best song Beady Eye had in that period, and to give certain critics that kind of ammunition in that you have a song by a (possibly too) highly regarded Manchester cult band on your first album after Oasis and it's possibly the best thing on there would probably have helped bury them on the release of DGSS. Side note I dug out Quality Street after reading your post and remembered just how much I loved World of Twist!

I've always loved the bit in Beatles And Stones from 1:20-1:55. Sounds brilliant live. Talking of Beatles & Stones, this is the version that should of been on the album:

I've never been a big fan of Soul Love, terrible single choice I thought. Tomorrow Comes Today is miles better imo.

I wonder how Four Letter Word would have sounded if it was on an Oasis record.

Oh yeah Liam was on it in that era. It's a shame that's when Beady Eye broke up.

I do like soul love, outro is cool, think they improved on it better towards the end of the tour with the backing track and Liam sounded stronger, less thin and varied the vocals abit more. I think soul love as a single was wrong, it shouldve been the reveal track imo instead of flick and then built up to the first single of flick of the finger, they revealed their best song first and while that got them off to a good start, it led to disappointment when the first single was considerably weaker. start anew shouldve been the last single imo with a new song as a b side. a double A side for beady eye was pointless.

The single choices for BE in general were very strange. First FOTF came out but for some reason didn't actually come out as a vinyl single so no b-side Then SBOTA came out with a fairly pointless b-side. Then bloody SHINE A LIGHT, wtf?? The Worlds not set in Stone would have been a better single, practically ANY other song from BE INCLUDING the bonus tracks would have been better! Finally we got Soul Love / Iz Rite. Surely it should have been Iz Rite / Soul Love seeing as Iz Rite was the far poppier track? Iz Rite deserved a video more than Soul Love. And of course there was the fact that 3 of the bonus tracks were better than half the official album. Madness. I'm not surprised the album bombed and they broke up after that.
