I think that I prefer Where the City Meets the Sky above Chasing Yesterday. The 1st 3D version of The Right Stuff is so much better than the album version. I definitely listen(ed) to a few more of the remixes than the album versions. Riverman (Beyond The Wizards Sleeve) Ballad of the Mighty I (Beyond The Wizards Sleeve) The Girl With X-Ray Eyes (David Holmes) The Right Stuff (3D Version One) In The Heat of The Moment (Toydrum & Weatherall) I wish Beyond The Wizards Sleeve had reworked the whole album as the done with Sun Structures by Temples. Are these remixes all the remixes from Chasing Yesterday (with The Mexican of course)? Or are there more?

This is definitely my favourite demo we have leading in Noel's third album. Really great song. If it's on the album it'll no doubt be a total plodding mess. This demo is amazing and among my favourite post oasis recordings. Wow. Never heard this one before. I loved it. Really "Dillanesque". Is there anymore demos apart from Come On Outside and those ones discarded for the 1st album? Would love to see if there is some of them that i havent heard before

Just Let It Come Down on Me is just simply perfect. One of my Top 10 Noel solo songs for sure. I think it would make a nice opener for a semi-acoustic performance like the STC tour. I also think I'd Pick You Every Time would be a nice opener, but I think I may be alone on that one.
I also think Come On It's Alright is probably the most overrated "Oasis" song. Musically its reasonably interesting, I like the intro a lot and the chords are pretty standard but work very fluidly together, especially with that guitar fuzz. But the lyrics are really nothing special at all. I know that Noel's never been one to dwell much on lyrics and that's fine. Even Magic Pie has more memorable lines (quite a few btw) than this one. It just says nothing, and makes the song seem so generic. The "cow vs cloud" bit is the best part of the whole song, lyrically.
Come On Outside would have a fine enough bside but if this was the Oasis comeback single (as I'm sure Beady's Mighty Sigh has expressed somewhere), it would be pretty shocking. It's got some redeeming features for sure but its remarkably plain.

'Let the Lord...' is still one of my favorite HFB songs. Love the dark, cinematic mood... and it sounds so menacing and layered compared to many other HFB1 tracks. More of this on the next album please!

I saw Coldpaly last Friday in Bangkok and thought during "Up & Up" "oh this could well be an Oasis solo" just to find out today the second solo is indeed played by Noel Gallagher

I can't stop listening to the demos off the first album at the minute, would love for Noel to do an album that was really stripped bare.
The Stranded On The Wrong Beach demo is absolutely brilliant, nothing more than the drums, guitar and Noels vocals. It just sounds really laid back and cool, I love it.

Just watching some footage of the previous tour. When playing 'You know we can't go back' he'd dedicate it to Oasis fans. Just realised what that means.

There is an Android app called Song Flip that has lots of Noel demos and interviews. It's free!

No disrespect to Tim Smith, but why on earth of all guitarists did Noel pick him? Did he think, oh I just need that American Sheryl Crow rhythm guitarist? Seemingly no connection between them? Of all the seemingly more proficient, better resumed and interesting guitarists?

Of all the seemingly more proficient, better resumed and interesting guitarists? As I understand, Noel had a previous guitarist who left midway through rehearsals. Tim Smith was recommended by both Stacey and Mike Rowe because they had both just come off a tour with Sheryl Crowe. So, I believe that Noel had most of Sheryl Crowe's band as HFB's. Which makes sense. They needed someone quickly, and why take a chance of picking someone who might not have chemistry with everyone else? Tim Smith was a pretty sure bet, and Noel took it.

So...Noel has played today my favourite song of his solo career, for the first time. While The Song Remains The Same. And also Riverman on acoustic. I really want to hear those tracks acoustic live. If anyone finds a link or a video, please share!

I can't believe WTSRTS actually got played, after all this time, when everyone's lost interest. The great big hyped gig with Noel supporting himself had no surprises (Brixton) but the dinky little last minute performance with 10 songs done long after the albums' release and that's when we get the new song!
At least it got played. I can't believe more people aren't talking about this. No recording I presume?

It makes little difference. Noel tells his band exactly how to play.

Who knows why but I gave a listen to "In The Heat of The Moment", thinking "maybe it's not as bad as I remember". Big mistake. I still think the chorus' melody is one of the worst Noel ever composed. And those nanana's...

I remember around autumn 2010 it was reported Noel was working with David McDonnell (from the Liverpudlian band The Sand Band). I think he was well on board for quite a while, but left prior to the official solo announcement.

Yeah I remember listening to a few of their songs around the time those rumours floated about in October 2010. I liked them, and they had a lightness to them that the eventual High Flying Birds did not as they were weighed down by stodgy lumpen production (sorry, I can't help myself).

Tim and Jeremy had previously played together in 2004/5 as part of Neil/Tim Finn's touring band (and Neil and Sheryl are friends, so it's not totally surprising they ended up playing with her too), so they've had a reasonably long history together.

Did we ever get an explanation on how 'The Mexican' got its name?
