Alone On The Rope is unreal It really is incredible, so much so that it could have actually been on Morning Glory! Easily a top 20 all time Noel track.

Alone On The Rope is unreal Best solo song from Noel. Probably in his top 5 of the last 15 years.

When I saw Bruce Springsteen at Hampden, he wheeled out tunes he hadn't played for years and didn't even play some of his biggest hits. I can't say I noticed since I was so thrilled to hear some obscure ones amongst the well known hits.
Now granted, Bruce has a stronger back catalogue than Noel but to just change the odd tune in and out of setlists is pathetic, and for me, it stinks of the typical conservative nature of the man - constant mid tempo albums, not enough variation and absolutely no risk taking or sense of adventure. And he likes to think of himself as 'rock n roll'? My nan is more rock n roll than this guy at times.

They seemed a bit more "risky" in their earlier days (not tremendously...but a little). I think it's because they became less of a band mentality and more of a "turn up with a formula and just repeat the same product" and Noel's remained the same. It's a shame really

Maybe Noel still has a kind of "Glastonbury 1995 syndrome", to not to be getting bottles thrown by fans by playing new songs before they're released. and indeed Oasis were not a band which were keen on changing their set list.

Noel should be arrested for making Alone On The Rope a Amazon bonus track.

You're definitely right that he likes to play it safe and please the majority but he did play Freaky Teeth on his first tour before releasing it though to be fair to him.

I think he forgot the basic tour rules there which are new songs and road testing are for gigs with fans who have come to see you specifically, and festivals are where you wheel out the best known and greatest hits set lists. Blur did a similar thing if my memory serves me right a few years later with the set top heavy on new songs to a fairly bemused wider audience. In retrospect the set was good but I suppose having heard little of the new material it was inevitable there would be some disgruntled casual music fans wondering why they didn't recognise any of the songs. Opening with The Swamp Song baffled a fair few people IIRC as well!

and the award for most boring tour in the history of oasis and the gallaghers goes to........ solid tour, top voice as usual but boring as shit, good job Liams on his way back in with some of that piss off attitude. While the song remains the same didnt even get one live play, disappointing Noel mah lad. side note: that BOTMI live version above is top notch, brass section suits it well and fills it out, knew it just needed some work to get going for a live gig.

I'll just leave this here: I quite liked his mate's reaction as well (I assume jokingly since the original Tweeter liked it)

The EOTR video is a total embarrassment. This song deserved so much better... Agree. Not the biggest fan of the song but the video really looks it is from some kind of "pop stars". If I Had A Gun video is quite shite too.

The screen grab of it they're using as the preview is as bad as the one in my signature. What A Life was pretty bad too.

If I Had A Gun video is quite shite too. I haven't watched that video since it first came out, its exactly as bad as I remember. The worst oasis related video of all time. They could have filmed Noel walking to the shops to get a loaf of bread and it would have been infinitely better.
