Originally I didn't really like The Death of You and Me, but it has really grown on me. I also appreciate its nod to the Benefit of Mr. Kite at the end of it.

The Death Of You And Me is ok but it's never been one of my favourite Noel solo songs.

You Know That We Can't Go Back The Ballad Of The Mighty I Lock All The Doors Riverman Do The Damage While The Song Remains The Same She Taught Me How To Fly Be Careful What You Wish For Love Is The Law Black And White Sun Shine That's about it. I've included nothing from Noel's first album because I've never really been a big fan of it and I don't think that it's particularly aged well.

1. Everybody's On The Run 2. The Death Of You And Me 3. AKA โฆ What A Life! 4. If I Had A Gun โฆ 5. In The Heat Of The Moment 6. Riverman 7. Lock All The Doors. 8. The Dying Of The Light 9. Ballad Of The Mighty I 10. We're On Our Way Now 11. Black Star Dancing 12. Holy Mountain [Remastered] 13. A Dream Is All I Need To Get By 14. This Is The Place 15. It's A Beautiful World 16. Blue Moon Rising 17. Dead In The Water [Live At RTร 2FM Studios, Dublin] 18. Flying On The Ground
Totally Agree He's Done Better But Understandable Definitely Wouldn't Have Been My Choice WTF Noel
Overall I'm giving Noel a B-. I was surprised to see that 'Who Built the Moon?' was somewhat unrepresented and I think that the 3 EP's have been overrepresented (perhaps due to Noel's recency bias) but overall I think he's done an ok job. 'We're On Our Way Now' is an alright tune but I don't think it comes close to his best stuff. 'Broken Arrow', 'While the Song Remains the Same', 'You Know We Can't Go Back', 'Fort Knox', 'She Taught Me How To Fly' and 'The Man Who Built the Moon' would've been my substitutes. Oh and I'll swap 'Riverman' with the Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve remix while I'm at it.

I'd chuck off In The Heat Of The Moment and Lock All The Doors from the album (understandable with the former though as it was a relatively successful single). Throw on If Love Is The Law and While The Song Remains The Same.
And screw it, I'll get flak, but Keep On Reaching is a worthy shout. It's a great great tune, propulsive soul infused magic - melodically so different from anything he's done, and it adds so much vibrancy to the tracklisting (as would many Who Built The Moon tracks). It's also a marker that his solo work is so much more eclectic than the old white man rock influences that made up latter Oasis tracks.

Would have liked If Love Is The Law over Lock All The Doors. The rest of it is fine. Nice that it's getting as much flak as Stop The Clocks does.

Fuck all from the EPs, for me. They're massively over-represented in Noel's choice.

I listened to the first HFB album three times in the past two days. Itโs been raining quite a bit and for some reason, a voice in my head said โput on that album, itโll be great to listen to whilst driving in the rain.โ
And you know what? It really was. I enjoyed it as much as I did when it first came out. The first four songs are perfect, Broken Arrow and Wrong Beach were brilliant, and even the maligned recording of STC was great. I love Paul Staceys solos (this one and Black Star Dancing). Thereโs a menacing edge to them.
I enjoyed the album so much that the production flaws didnโt even bother me. Iโm so glad this album got made. This recording of Record Machine does grate on me (the scrappy DBTT demo with its killer solo is way better IMO) but otherwise, loved it.

Broken Arrow is such a great little pop tune I wish they'd given it the single treatment instead of Dream On, it's just so catchy without it taking anything away from the actual quality of the tune
