Hard disagree on Soldier On. One of my favorite Liam-written songs from the Oasis years, and a great album closer. And To Be Where There's Life is just fun. Love the live version too. I like Soldier On too, but by then the damage has been done. Would have been a more effective closer- and looked on with more kindness- if it had epic tracks preceding it. Exactly this!

I absolutely love To Be Where There’s Life I believe it was influenced by the song Mathar by the Dave Pike set Best tune from the album - utterly menacing live - top class Liam at black rock on this bad boy! The remixes are superb as others have stated. Falling Down and SOTL come a very close 2nd aand 3rd for me for nostalgia maybe more than anything due to hearing these before the entire album.

Never mind the BHN rethink, I want a DOYS re-do where the lads record the second half in all it’s supposed glory and re-release the album as it should have been…. Come On Outside, Record Machine, Stop the Clocks, Boy with the Blues….

To Be Where There's Life is a great psychedelic number. The Richard Fearless remix is what should have been on the album.
Swap Ain't Got Nothin with The Boy With the Blues or I Believe In All.
Make The Nature of Reality an instrumental interlude by cutting the vocals, and you have a fantastic track.
Soldier On, the perfect closer.
All this quickly turns Dig Out Your Soul into the best album since Be Here Now at the time of its release.

Said it here many times, but I genuinely love DOYS, even its second half. It and SOTSOG are sonic outliers in the Oasis discography; while neither contain the anthemic monsters that made them a phenomenon, both hold a special place in my heart for proving (to me) they could do something different and still be a genuinely special band. Outside of DM, I probably listen to DOYS/SOTSOG the most.

I've noticed it's well liked by new fans. It's due for a reassessment imo, same as BHN

"Soldier On" should be a haunting conclusion, like watching the stormclouds roll off after a hurricane. After that run of tracks, it's more like watching a puddle dry up after a spot of drizzle in Weston-Super-Mere.

I think DOYS is very good.
High Horse Lady and Nature of Reality are songs I never listen to unless doing the album in full. I enjoy all of the others.
That being said, Boy with the Blues and I Believe in All are better songs than Ain’t Got Nothing and Solider On so have always been puzzled by that

Soldier On works within the narrative of the band, with DOYS itself fittingly all about the apocalypse. If Soldier On ended Oasis MK II, we need a killer return single. Always imagined summat like Better Days doing wonders.

Give me a true banger like "Wall of Glass" instead.

I like Soldier On too, but by then the damage has been done. Would have been a more effective closer- and looked on with more kindness- if it had epic tracks preceding it. The track listing I've been running with lately after I'm Outta Time is: Record Machine - Falling Down - To Be Where There's Life (either version) - Soldier On - Boy with the Blues I thought about adding The Nature of Reality because I like the stomping guitars and drums but the lyrics kill it for me. As is, you get the forward-thinking apocalyptic vibe but then at the end, you see the forest from the trees in classic Oasis style with an epic rouser of a tune to close it all out. For a similar reason, I'd put a stripped-down version of Little James after Roll it Over on SOTSOG. Put I Can See a Liar and Let's All Make Believe, replace Sunday Morning Call with One Way Road, and you've got a solid hangover album lyrically and musically.

Really loving Columbi from Sawmills Outtake. Columbia has always been one of my favourite Oasis songs and it's a monster tune. Luckily, I witnessed the live version of this song at Liam's last gig. It's cool if they open their gigs next year with this song, but most likely it will be RnR Star or Hello. If they open with Acquiesce, my eyes won't stay dry.

this interview came a year ago, but Andy talks about Ride, Hurricane#1, how he nearly got into Gay Dad, Noel, Liam and Paul got the news and stopped that from happening, joining Oasis, songwriting, how Turn Up The Sun got from a downtempo song into the live monster with Liam and Noel's output and more (near the 1:20:00 mark) .
