I guess it depends if Noel wants anything to do with it. I think he once described FTM as the lowest point in his time with Oasis or something along those lines. I'm sure there would be a queue round the block for people to get involved in that, just give it to one of them. New LP, 2x CD and Bluray set, thanks very much. I love FTM enormously. The band sounds great and Liam's gorgeous "new" abrasive voice is hypnotic. The band at that concert sounds like they were the Pink Floyd of Britpop. Noel sometimes talks absolute bullshit and in some cases praises shit and belittles gold. I always hope for a remix or at least a remaster of that concert. I would even pay £100 for it. It is what it is but it certainly isn’t a high point for the band. It’s caught between two stools. Gem and Andy haven’t settled in yet and Noel has clearly come down from his high. The band got better and better (but Liam’s vocals got worse although 2006 was certainly the bottom and he improved for DoyS) as time went on but the best gigs remain the 94-97 batch. I enjoy it but it’s not something I revisit that often. It’s cromulent.

This is a great description. It's possibly my favourite sounding Oasis tour though I am also a huge fan of the way they sounded in 1997 / 1998. Live albums and bootlegs are my thing and FTM is in my top 2 live albums of all time. Maybe it helps I was there but it sounds amazing. Something changed in 2002 that carried on until 2009. Even the way they played Rock N Roll Star changed after the 10 years of noise and confusion tour. FTM is criminally underrated IMO.

It's 20 years ago today since Oasis released Definitely Maybe on DVD. Got that DVD for Xmas 2004. I was still an adolescent back then. That’s crazy. Excellent DVD, too.

There should probably be a designated thread to Oasis lyrics but I'll just post this in here. Ok this theory might be bollocks but I'm gonna post it anyway.
I think most people know that the line "Slowly walking down the hall" in 'Champagne Supernova' is a reference to Brackett the Butler in an old kids TV show called Chigley... Well I was under the impression that the following line "Faster than a cannonball" was just a surreal juxtaposition that Noel explained away as something that simply rhymed. So anyway, I was reading Noel's interview in Isle of Noises again and whilst talking about the lyrics to 'Champagne Supernova' he mentions the Chigley story as he has done multiple times before but also says "This is going to sound bizarre, but it's about that and a train in American mythology that's called the Wabash Cannonball which is a really fast train". That's when it hit me... How can you move slowly down a corridor whilst moving moving at incredible speed? When you're on a train. It's kinda like one of those sphinx-like riddles. It's also worth noting that death plays a large part in the myth of the Wabash Cannonball Express and that's a topic which comes up a lot in the song. Don't get me wrong, I think the song, like most Oasis songs, isn't about one topic and most of the lyrics probably exist simply because they sound good, but these two lines IMO might, just might, reference travelling on a train.

Thinking about the fact there's a 8-10 hour Directors cut of Supersonic fully edited that will never see the light of day. Imagine the amount of content that's in that...

This is the kinda shit that makes this forum great. I’ve never even thought of those lines like that before, but now that you’ve explained it like that, it fits so well! The story surrounding that train is weird though… when a hobo dies the train collects its soul.

Heathen Chemistry is back on the charts for the 1st time since 2005! And for the 2nd straight week WTSMG is at #4, it's highest position since 1996!

Because of the 3 hit limit Oasis actually have a further 12 tracks in the Top 75 - these are starred out.
3 of those tracks lie between # 13 and 24.
*** Oasis - Champagne Supernova *** Oasis - Supersonic *** Oasis - She's Electric
Well done Oasis!

If the original cut of Nirvana’s Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! Managed to see the light earlier this year, I wouldn’t fully give up on this… though being Oasis it’s a very small sliver of hope.

To Be Where There’s Life Ain’t Got Nothin’ The Nature of Reality Soldier On
That has to be the worst run of songs for Oasis.
They had the tunes too, and sabotaged an album which had much potential.

A Quick Peep (Probably) All in the Mind She Is Love Are you calling these two out as bad? '(Probably) All in the Mind' and 'She Is Love'? I can't agree with that myself.

I like 'To Be Where There’s Life' and 'Ain’t Got Nothin’'. And I don't hate 'The Nature of Reality' and 'Soldier On', but I agree that they aren't strong songs.

Hard disagree on Soldier On. One of my favorite Liam-written songs from the Oasis years, and a great album closer. And To Be Where There's Life is just fun. Love the live version too.

I like Soldier On too, but by then the damage has been done. Would have been a more effective closer- and looked on with more kindness- if it had epic tracks preceding it.
