We meant like unheard songs entirely, and they're known for doing that. When they put out Gem's Demos from 2007 they omitted Mindfield Feel from their release. Thankfully it's online either way. But who knows what other unheard songs and recordings they're holding onto... Ignition seem incapable of releasing archive material of any quality so we should be happy when others do. Its probably the only chance for us as fans to put something together worthy of the band. I’m not sure their management even knows what the Internet is. They probably still think it’s 1998 and it’s all gravy. By the way, which one is Pink?

I’d say there’s probably an understanding with management that if it’s a different version of a previously released track it’s fair game. Unheard songs are probably off the table unless you want to get sued. It’s great to get anything at all but demos of Beady Eye songs definitely wouldn’t be first on my list of wants. No one has ever been sued for demos or session versions. Fans have been sourcing and sharing unheard Oasis music for years right back to the original NG 1988 cassette tape and 1991 Oasis demos. The Noel 2010 demo CD had 4 unreleased tracks which were shared and no one from Ignition or Sour Mash said or done a thing. When a group of us shared the Gem 2007 demo CD a couple of years back it had an unheard song, Mindfield Feel, recorded during the Oasis years and no one batted an eyelid. When Stop The Clocks and Record Machine leaked back 2008 they were both unheard along with Ain’t Got Nothing and Oasis even released a statement saying not finished versions and did not seem that arsed at all. www.uncut.co.uk/news/oasis-say-leaked-tracks-are-old-demos-not-new-material-49608/They would only kick into legal action if it was current album or songs being actively worked on. The current stuff we are talking about was found in a storage unit according to the video below: I have all those demos so I don’t know why that thought ever occurred to me… Right, fuck those vaginas hoarding shit.

The title of the song is not obscured on Maxi's YouTube channel. It is The Morning Son. Exciting. Hopefully an Oasis era demo!

'The Morning Son' was originally named " I Stand Alone" around the early 2005. There were rumours that it would be the first single. And I remember, that i was at holydays, ina city call Mar Del Plata (ARG), and I was waiting for it to come out. And in those days while I was waiting for I Stand Alone, it was officially announced that the first single would be lyla. So I was like 'what?'and then re started another countdown to the single realise day! Even in those days there was some fanart floating around. I appreciate why it was so important to come back strongly with this particular album. It was a new decade, a new sound, the return of the biggest band in the country and they had a lot to prove after 'Be Here Now'. I understand the argument that Noel should've taken even more time than he did before he released it but I'm not sure it'd be fair to describe it as being rushed out. Off the top of my head there was more Noel written songs (that we know about) written for that album than any other noughties Oasis album. Also couldn't you make the same argument about other Oasis albums considered subpar? That given a little more time they'd all be better? I know this is all hypothetical fun but combining two albums, written at different times (for the most part at least), is a step too far to me. Surely you could just pick the best songs from pretty much any two consecutive albums by any band and argue "Hey guys, had the band just of waited look what could've been made!" The reason I believe it goes too far is because had Noel "taken more time to gather tracks" the songs he would write wouldn't be the ones we hear on 'Heathen Chemistry' (apart from those he'd already written in 1999 of course). The creation of a song is a collection of moments of inspiration over a period of time. Had Noel not gone into the studio to record SOTSOG he wouldn't have had to promote it, tour it and everything that goes along with it. He wouldn't have been in the same rooms he was, strumming the same chords he did, finding the same melodies he did. Basically what I'm saying is combining the two albums is an impossibility and although we're only being hypothetical here I think any tracklist we put together should be plausible. Forgive me for stomping all over your beautiful creation pal, haha
No, of course, you're absolutely right; to go further, the universe is almost certainly deterministic at classical level, and everything that did happen is the only thing that ever really could have! "The Hindu Times" and "Stop Crying Your Heart Out", as you say, might not have been written in any form at all had events been somehow different, which would ultimately require the Big Bang to have been somehow different fourteen billion years ago, ha. In that sense, every hypothetical is equally as plausible and implausible as every other; all imagined past events are and always were impossibilities. We could colour that point in and say that is literally just as plausible, for instance, that Julius Caeser had written "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" as it is that Noel Gallagher would have written it for this delayed Giants. But of course, that doesn't jam with our everyday sense of plausibility. I'm not gonna pretend I know anything much about the subject of determinism but this feels very much like a 'get out of jail free' card to me pal Even if every outcome was equally as plausible as every other the odds of that outcome being the one to play out would be so ridiculously unlikely that it's as good as impossible and should be treated as such. Rebranding it as the kind of album we could've had is a little better but using specific impossible songs (yeah, yeah...) will always be a no for me. Regarding the common ground between the albums (apart from the songs written during the SOTSOG-era) I don't think they're especially similar. I'll list below the full list of songs Noel wrote during the SOTSOG and Heathen Chemistry eras. Personally I think Noel had moved on somewhat, a degree similar to that of most Oasis/NGHFB releases. SOTSOG-Era
- (As Long as They've Got) Cigarettes in Hell - Carry Us All - Force Of Nature - Fuckin’ In The Bushes - Full On - Gas Panic! - Go Let It Out - I Can See A Liar - Idler’s Dream - Just Getting Older - Let There Be Love - Let’s All Make Believe - Little By Little - One Way Road - Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is - Revolution Song - Roll It Over - Sunday Morning Call - Teotihuacan - Where Did It All Go Wrong? - Who Feels Love? Heathen Chemistry-Era
- (Probably) All In The Mind - (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady - The Good Rebel - She Is Love - Shout It Out Loud - Stop Crying Your Heart Out - The Cage - The Hindu Times - (You’ve Got) The Heart Of A Star This is incorrect. In 2009 Noel said he thinks 'The Hindu Times' started as a song called 'Revival' and we can date that song precisely to mid-2000. In fact Noel says it's the first thing he's written in 18 months. If you're referring to a live video that was doing the rounds not that long ago from the 90s in which that riff was played at the end, yeah that's not real. I recall him saying that should've spent more time on the lyrics to 'I Can See A Liar' and that it was Liam who made him put it on the album. To be fair to Noel deciding when enough is enough is probably a more complicated process than can be easily appreciated. Noel may have been burnt out, felt in the moment everything was up to scratch... Then there's pressure from the band (notably Liam, who's obviously gonna be a massive pain in the arse), the enormous machine around Oasis, press, fans, the need to tour... There's a whole lotta shit to deal with.

Wouldn't generally be excited for a Beady Eye track but The Morning Son is one of their best tunes, or Liam's certainly. Not sure it would fit the flow of Don't Believe The Truth, but hoping it maintains a raw and stripped back approach of that album. Would certainly whet the appetite for more recordings and demos from that era.
So much material floating around from that era, and it makes Don't Believe The Truth ever more fascinating. It's a good album, but like so many great acts, you think there's probably a much better album lurking around somewhere with an alternative tracklisting. Noel had gotten over the rut he was in, Liam's songwriting had hit a purple patch and even Gem and Andy's contributions were fine. If ever Oasis were to do a 'White Album' this was the time. I do get a sense from Don't Believe The Truth that there was more effort put into it than their other albums around that time. Its flaws are also forgivable given the difficult nature of recording that album.
A shame that Dig Out Your Soul is so lacklustre in comparison. What they recorded we pretty much have barring a couple of tracks, they went in with a set list of songs to record and sometimes I think that lack of chaos and variety translates onto what I feel is a pretty drab and unmelodic album.

So with the announcement of the Supersonic 30th anniversary 7 inch, it got me thinking. What if they are just going to release 30th anniversary editions for the singles... and then the 30th anniversary reissue?
Be creative! Post some tickets from the shows, or some unseen photos from an era that, being honest, fuck all has surfaced. March-June of '94 is quite unknown. Not a lot of photos, not a lot of audio, not a lot of ticket stubs either.
I'm keeping what little hope I have held high. I don't think it'll be super empty, but it could get empty, and hollow.
Ok, rant done. See everyone on June 20th for the Shakermaker 30th anniversary 7 inch and the UK exclusive CD.

The Crimson Rambler About "The Hindu Times", the source I was thinking of was the Time Flies booklet where I thought Noel said something to the effect of: "I don't know why it took me so long to write it, because I'd had had the riff for ages". Perhaps I'm misremembering, but if not, this would suggest that he separates writing the riff from writing the song, which fits with the quotes you have: he had the riff written, but only started working that up into an actual song at the point you mentioned. I'd be fine with that, since it would still therefore be true that everything on my playlist was at least partially written in time, bar "Stop Crying Your Heart Out". Does anyone have the booklet to hand to check if I've made that up? This was about a decade ago, ha.

The 'Time Flies...' booklet says: Here all of the quotes I've got about 'Revival' which I'll list chronologically. The last one ties it to 'The Hindu Times':
Here's a quote talking about a song that sounds like it's probably 'Revival'/'The Hindu Times':
Here's a few specifically talking about 'The Hindu Times' too: The difficulty we have (as is the case with many a NG song) is making sense of quotes that appear to conflict with one another, what's accurate and what's being exaggerated. Unless more quotes can be found the best case scenario would be it's inconclusive.

You can hear him playing it here in April 1996, during the Walrus outro (skip to 1:24). Same Size Feet wasn’t released until August 1997. Others have argued that it was inspired by ABBA’s Does Your Mother Know, but I don’t really hear much of a similarity myself.
