Okay, today I have two Oasis thoughts:
1. Some Might Say.. Dear goodness !! What a tune ! This is less of a thought and more of a well-stated fact.. But listening to it now for the first time in weeks (okay, hours) It's just the perfect Oasis song ! Optimistic, upbeat, epic.. That chorus and outro are amazing. Some times you just gotta stand back and wonder, how in the WORLD was Noel writing such good tunes back then ? Just hit after hit..
2. This one is more of a footnote, but, I wonder why Noel did no backing vocals for "I hope, I Think, I Know" ? I can totally hear him saying "And this !" and "You call !" a beat after Liam does.

The video for Don't Go Away is awful beyond belief. Almost staggering how bad it is. Every visual trick they go falls flat on its face. A hundred Liams floating about like Mary Poppins, with black brolly to boot, whose idea was that?!

I'm almost certain that in 1997 it probably looked cool as fuck. 20 years on it looks dated, because it's, erm, dated. |

What are everyone's thoughts on the "Whatever" video ? Personally, it's one of my favourite Music videos ever ! It's so nice to see everybody so happy.. Even if Noel was hungover as hell !

What are everyone's thoughts on the "Whatever" video ? Personally, it's one of my favourite Music videos ever ! It's so nice to see everybody so happy.. Even if Noel was hungover as hell ! I think Shakermaker is up there, in terms of how happy everyone is. Especially Bonehead in a park with a helmet.  |

I always wondered if that shot was inspired by this painting by the Belgian surrealist René Magritte.  René Magritte - Golconda (1953). I think Brian Cannon has acknowledged in several interviews the influence of Magritte on some of his iconic Oasis sleeve designs (Wonderwall in particular, if I recall correctly) so perhaps the director of this music video was picking up on that style of imagery in Oasis's earlier sleeve art. |

As for my 3000th post, here's my BHN remaster in its entirety. Thanks to carlober for the advice on this site  You can download it but it is in MP3. I'm not sure what the bitrate is from Clyps download but my original MP3 transfer I made from FLAC was done in 320Kbps. This won't be popular, but when I was listening to the 3rd disc of MG reissue today after a long time, it actually annoyed me how many Noel sung songs are on there, sometimes in a row. Yeah, I know, demos etc., but still. That's why while I wish you the fullfillment of your dreams with those legendary BH demos, I am not that keen on them or at least not a whole disc of them.

I'd never say Oasis videos are terrible. They're fine, they do the job and they're not ridiculous for the most part. It's the band doing their thing, playing or walking in slow motion.

Pink Floyd are great but they're just too fucking ART SCHOOL for me, man. I need my rock and roll. As soon as I hear that "uh, yeah" at the start of DYKWIM i'm set...  It fuckin messes with my head how GOOD that song is man, unbelievable. Some might say BIBLICAL. Makes me want to sit up and believe in life.Oasis is the most inspirational band ever created. Noel and Liam are the most positive human beings on this planet. Being negative is easy, being positive and inspirational is difficult.
