Looking Oasis melodic contours. Interesting stuff. Only done Definitely Maybe but I already can see some recurrent notes movements.

I like Sad Song, but it was right leaving it off of Definitely Maybe. DM is a semi-concept album of youth having a night out on the town and ‘avin’ it large. Sad Song is too melancholic for DM.

Sad Song wonderful song, but it just doesn't fit DM.

I could envisage Sad Song on Definitely Maybe, but I think Married With Children is the better fit overall. I still think Whatever should have closed the album out, though, I have an ethical objection to songs that good not being on an album.

DM isn't perfect.
There is some chopping and changing that would've made it even better.

In real time I didn't even know about Whatever in the fall of 1994. DM is all guitars to eleven. No strings. Might have sounded disjointed slightly. DM is perfect as is. I'd change nothing. Whatever ran into some serious legal troubles. That def would have taken out of DM consideration if it was even around. Don't think it was even recorded until way after DM was. Somebody else might know more in its history.

I don't know if Whatever would've worked on Definitely Maybe, it's the the perfect bridge between DM and MG. My favourite Oasis song along with Live Forever though.
On the Sad Song subject, I disagree. This song smells Definitely Maybe era. It could've ended the album, even though Married With Children was a clever choice. Sad Song is the superior song though. One of Noel's masterpieces.

I think Whatever would have worked okay on WTSMG, in place of the irritating and useless She’s Electric.

Ironically, many yanks know and like She’s Electric, which I find strange.

Gets decent-ish radio play in the UK as well still to this day.
I can take it or leave it tbh.
It's easily disposable off the album though.

Probably because it's one of the most Beatles-ish track they ever done, and The Beatles are very popular (ok, they are popular everywhere, but still very much in the States) there. The composition is superb.

She's Electric was the worst song they released until She Is Love According to the numbers (or at least the best numbers we have)... She's Electric is getting an average rating of 8.07. That is tied with Roll It Over at number 34 among the 154 songs. For reference, She Is Love is at 141, so there is a gap of 107 spots between the two. She Is Love falls in the bottom 10%, while She's Electric is polling in the top 78%. Songs rated lower (than 8.07) up thru HC include, but are not limited to: Up in the Sky Digsy's Dinner Shakermaker Roll with It Hey Now! The Swamp Song My Big Mouth All Around the World It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) I Hope, I Think, I Know Be Here Now Fade In-Out The Girl In the Dirty Shirt Magic Pie All Around the World (Reprise) Headshrinker (It's Good) To Be Free Stay Young Underneath the Sky Going Nowhere Fuckin' in the Bushes Where Did It All Go Wrong? Who Feels Love? Sunday Morning Call I Can See a Liar Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is Force of Nature The Cage (Probably) All in the Mind Little by Little The Hindu Times

Sunday Morning Call I Can See a Liar Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is Force of Nature The Cage (Probably) All in the Mind Little by Little The Hindu Times I also believe that She's Electric is the most played, non-single/album track on UK radio in the 21st century, according to www.officialcharts.com. rickypaglais definitely seems to be in the minority with that opinion.
