Not to throw you into more indecision but noel has 22 of your favourite song from 2 album and oasis have 30 from 4 so noel has nearly done in 2 albums for you what oasis did in 4. True Dat... But Gun to my head if I had to burn one of my collections of either NGHFB or Post BHN... I'd lose more if I chose to keep Noel. I have no doubt that after Noels 3rd Album cycle that He will tip the scales in his favour. After all CY is my 4th favourite Gallagher related LP even since DM. Ye totally agree with that although CY is my 3rd favourite Gallagher release!!! absolutely love that record

I'll take Oasis post BHN over ANYONE I fucking love those records I like SOTSOG and I really, really like DBTT but DOYS has nothing that really jumps out as a great oasis song like every other oasis album and HC's first half is actually quite good but the second half is not good at all, oasis' worst run of songs. seen as u love the records what is ur favourite post BHN oasis record and what is opinion on HC

If NGHFB albums were released under the Oasis name, there would be no debate. There is no such fillers or bad tunes as Little James, PYMWYMI, The Nature of Reality, The Meaning of Soul or Probably All In The Mind, on NGHFB or CY .

For me DBTT is by far the best post BHN record, followed by SOTSOG, which I love; it's not Oasis best record, but it's probably their boldest and most interesting. I criticise Heathen Chemistry and DOYS a lot on here. Some bizarre tracklistings and some wasted b-sides/ unreleased tunes stopped them being classic records (which I think all the others are, and I think that with the songs written and available for each album's sessions, every album could have been a classic) But while they are poor Oasis albums, they're still good albums by most bands standards, and I still listen to them all the time. As for HC, I think the album sessions had Oasis' poorest batch of songs, yet the band still squandered some great material on b-sides. However, that said I think all the singles (bar she is love) are classic Oasis and the Hindu Times is one of my favourite Oasis tunes. And Liam's other contributions are at least interesting. I prefer it to DOYS, of which I only really love the first half. But despite these albums being very patchy, I do find them interesting, and I can happily listen to either the whole way through. I always enjoy Liam's singing and the band's playing, and on DOYS I really love the production. So while I don't think they're great Oasis albums, I only think one or two songs on them are 'bad', and if they were by another band I'd rate that band very highly

I think as much as I love BHN I kinda burnt a lot of bridges for them because they could never really throw the kitchen sink at an album again really and have the powerful oasis sound because of the hammering they got for it being bloated and it was DBTT that they figured out how post BHN oasis needed to sound and SOTSOG was a complete experimental which I'm glad they did but I'm glad they didn't do it again in a way.

Talented musicians as they were with the arguable success of "Nowhere" by Ride and possibly "Going Blank Again" neither had a strong track record in writing great songs, Andy within the last few years prior to joining and Gem unfortunately in general. I think they must have thought they had won the lottery in a manner of speaking when they were asked to join Oasis, as it would give them a platform for their songs that would sell in the millions and give them a very nice pay check. IIRC when Andy and Gem first asked Noel after the SOTSOG tour when the new recording sessions were starting he replied that they were not going to happen. It was Gem who chipped away at Noel with demos and ideas, getting him around to the idea which helped him get into the mood alongside the "Brotherly Love" tour with The Black Crowes. If Noel had been less relaxed about quality control and even perhaps confidence in that era then the post 2000 records may have turned out very differently, perhaps even as I have said before with different musicians. It could even have been without Gem Archer that the SOTSOG tour was the swansong for Oasis, with Noel perhaps going solo nine years before he did.

I think the pair did 2 of my favourite oasis songs, turn up the sun and hung in a bad place but apart from I don't think they contributed anything songwise to the band that improved the records and Liam had I'm outta time and lots of people like songbird sadly I'm not one of them.

Hmm
SOTSOG- Some genius moments but still flawed
HC- Mostly dreadful with one or two highs
DBTT- Modern classic imo, great great album
DOYS- Starts off promising then ends with some of the worst Oasis songs in existence
NGHFB- Refreshing, great songs, slightly safe but still genius. Has EOTR on it, which is better than all post BHN
CY- Creative, full of great songs and a massive step in the right direction for Noel Solo
Gonna have to go with NGHFB

In fairness to Gem re: DBTT I was surprised by A Bell Will Ring, mainly because his output before that had essentially been heavily glam rock inspired. Chinese Burn from Heavy Stereo's only album was called by Noel and Paul Weller one of the best songs in the nineties, which is arguable for me, but it was a glam stomper.

I really don't understand the hate for the second half of Dig Out Your Soul and She Is Love. I dunno about everyone else but I really can't most of DOYS. The Turning, Bag It Up, SOTL, and Falling Down are great, and maybe I'm Outta Time, which for most bands 5/11 songs would be a pretty great record! ...Except those remaining songs are some of the worst songs I've ever heard. Ever. Ain't Got Nothin and Soldier On are painfully shit, and the rest is just crap and unenjoyable. I went from excited to miserable when I listened to that album. Guess I've never forgiven it for that. But for me, even the good songs of DOYS are overrated.

^ Using @lightsoffinside's method:
SOTSOG: A lot of great ideas lost behind a wall of bad songs. Heathen Chemistry: The titles pretty cool, I guess. Don't Believe the Truth: Like a glass of water when you're not thirsty. Ok, can't complain - but not really that exciting either. Dig Out Your Soul: See SOTSOG
NGHFB: A bit safe and badly produced, but the songs are so good - and so consistently so that's it's still a very good record. This albums problems are quibbles compared to the album wrecking issues with latter Oasis. Chasing Yesterday: Comsistent, creative, brilliant and well produced. The best of the bunch.
Clearly NGHFB for me.

Yeah I definitely agree with that. Be Here Now is the perfectly imperfect end to Noel's 3 albums in the same vein plan, and Oasis MK I and despite the more experimental DOYS, the last three albums aren't a million miles away from one another stylistically. SOTSOG is hard to put with any of the other records. I know most people divide the records into 90s and 00s, but for me Giants doesn't fit in either category. It's not an Oasis MK I record because Bonehead and Guigsy don't play on it, but it's not an Oasis MK II record because Andy and Gem don't play on it. And it doesn't sound like either. Would have been interesting to see the album released under a different name, and HC functioning as a sort of comeback. I think we can all agree it's not the comeback album we'd like, but those singles, man Stop Crying Your Heart Out would be some statement after a few years out of the limelight. For the record, I'm glad SOTSOG is an Oasis record, just a thought I had

Tommy Cooper style magic? I just think they made the live shows much better given their capabilities as musicians. Their songwriting remains questionable... Agreed they were better musicians, and about their songwriting contributions. I think the thing about the classic line up, with either McCarroll or White drumming, was that at the time it was a band coming through that defined an era and who had the energy in their sound (albeit not in their stage persona ). Also I think there is something to be said for a Noel quote in a 2014 radio interview with Nicky Wire where they were talking about 1994-1996, and he said something along the lines of you only get one moment when you are a band where you are roughly the same age as the audience, and if you get it right, you capture the youthful exuberance and energy of the that period in your performances. Overall though from a musical point of view Gem and Andy were certainly the more talented musicians, especially live, than their predecessors.

Also using LightsOffInside's method: SOTSOG: Lots of good ideas are presented on this album, but it's just a little too inconsistent. HC: Starts off solidly with a good first half, but the back half of the album is atrocious and boring. DBTT: Good flowing album that makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts with a little bit of happiness and creativity in each song. DOYS: The epitome of the last 3 albums. There are lots of good ideas presented and it flows well, but the back half has the terrible twosome of Ain't Got Nothin' and The Nature of Reality that ruins it. NGHFB: Similar to DBTT, it's consistent, flows well, and has some high quality songwriting on there. EOTR has to be in the top 15 or 20 of songs Noel has penned. CY: Once again, the songwriting on this album is top notch, and new territory is approached. This is quite possibly the best Gallagher-related album since WTSMG, and it shows with how the weakest songs on the album still pack a certain punch. NGHFB wins for me.

Not even close. All of the post-BHN album are fatally flawed, either by shit contributions by LAG or tired songwriting by Noel, or both.
NGHFB is half brilliant and always decent. CY is the most fully realized Gallagher album since MG.

Anyone who thinks Noel. Post oasis. see macca post wings it's a bunch of warmed over refriend beans ......Noel shot his load and made a fortune doing so ....he conned music executives into thinking he was the next Lennon ........and he is laughing all the way to the bank .....good for him.
