I have just returned home from Noel's Beacon Theater show tonight. It was my 5th Noel Gallagher show, in addition to 11 Oasis gigs and 3 Beady Eye shows. That's a lot of Gallagher brother action if I do say so myself! Here are my blog style thoughts............................. - Gig started at 8:15 PM. Shoot A Hole intro music. - Loads of Liam Zombies in attendance. Its not 1996 anymore guys. - Noel seemed extremely loose and relaxed. The most I've ever seen him like that. He bantered with the crowd every other song. Not just 2-3 words but 2-3 sentences with audiences interaction. Cool stuff. - His banter topics included: July 4th celebrations, gun control, NYC, forgetting Sonny's age and how the setlist will always be the same. ALWAYS BE THE FUCKING SAME he stressed. Get use to it. duh! - Nice to see Chris Sherrock back behind the drums. No offense to Jeremy Stacey but he kinda stuck out like a sore thumb in his bowler hat. - I noticed what seemed to be a Dallas Cowboys star (Not having that. Go Pats!) on his black guitar during The Mexican and What A Life! - No Stranded On The Wrong Beach. Very disappointed by that. Miss those sinister guitars. Filthy! - New songs sounded great: Lock All The Doors, In The Heat of The Moment, Riverman, Ballad of The Mighty I, The Mexican (Good punky version). The brass section/guy added a lot to the live setting. - In The Heat of The Moment is still a BEAST of a tune live. Noel sings the shit out of that song. I wish Noel figured out a way not to do the "Na na na na nas" on the studio version. They still sound very antagonizing. I still love it and it's one of my highlights off Chasing Yesterday. - Some loud drunk guy kept shouting out Liam sung Oasis songs all gig. It made me think tomlivesforever hopped on a flight to the states (Just kidding bro). - Very cool to FINALLY hear Listen Up. Never thought I'd get the pleasure. - Big big crowd singing of Don't Go Away during the encore. It was so loud I thought it might inspire Noel to play it acoustically during the encore. Silly me. It didn't happen per usual!!!!! - Great Wonderwall banter. "This one is responsible for everything, the cars, the houses, paying the mortgage, paying everyone's salaries, paying YOUR salaries, etc." - Glad Noel went back to play Don't Look Back In Anger electric. That's the proper fucking version in my book. - "See you SOONER rather than later" were some of Noel's last words on the night. I hope he is right. - Show ended to "Ekkehard Ehlers - Plays John Cassavetes" AKA.....Beatles' Good Night cover/remix/whatever - The gig merch SUCKED BALLS! One last note, somebody in the audience had a self made Noel Gallagher shirt that said: "HAIL TO THE CHIEF". That was awesome.

The guitar I saw last night with the Dallas Cowboys star was a black one. Not sure the make or model. Looked like a Fender. Maybe he had it painted black since then? Not sure. I believe it's the brown Nash T-72. Basically a posh, artificially aged, super-expensive custom version of the Fender Telecaster Deluxe. The star sticker was added last year during the USA leg in May. He's currently using it for The Mexican and What a Life, if I remember right. This guitar sports two humbuckers pickups so it's got a fuller sound. You can compare it to the harsher, more trebly sound (often described as TWANG!) of the classic green Fender Telecaster he's using for Digsy's Dinner and ITHOTM.

Loads of Liam Zombies in attendance. Its not 1996 anymore guys. That was hilarious. They reminded me of the "Manchester News" bit on Soccer AM. Nice to see Chris Sharrock back behind the drums. No offense to Jeremy Stacey but he kinda stuck out like a sore thumb in his bowler hat. Chris was stellar. It was great seeing him play with Noel again. Some loud drunk guy kept shouting out Liam sung Oasis songs all gig. It made me think tomlivesforever hopped on a flight to the states (Just kidding bro). There was a Liam zombie doing the same thing in the row behind me. Screaming in my ear, "Roll With It, you c unt!" Ugh. Big big crowd singing of Don't Go Away during the encore. It was so loud I thought it might inspire Noel to play it acoustically during the encore. Silly me. It didn't happen per usual!!!!! With all due respect to Noel and his High Flying Birds, that was the highlight of the evening for me. The gig merch SUCKED BALLS! Absolutely. Overpriced garbage. Now, to add to this... -The band's set up was way back in the stage. They were nowhere near front stage, making Chris a bit harder to see. I'm curious as to why that is. -Noel really has to change the setlist every now and again. As much as I love the guy, I always feel a little ripped off when there are only two new songs from the last time I saw him. It's what makes his shows unexciting. Apart from the banter in between songs, he honestly looked like he was going through the motions and just wanted to zipline out of there. Meanwhile, a band like Pearl Jam always puts on a phenomenal show, and one of the biggest reasons why is because they never play the same show twice. It's a big part of what makes their shows fun and exciting—you never know what they're going to play. (And it isn't like Noel doesn't have enough material to do it, the lazy bastard.) -The crowd didn't really wake up until he started playing some Oasis songs, at least where I was on the floor. For the first half of the show, they were fairly tepid. (Things only started getting rocking for "The Masterplan" and the encore.) It was nowhere near as good as the Webster Hall gig (or, in terms of smaller theaters, the 2011 gig in Boston I went to).

That's the Only bad thing of being a Noel Gallagher/Oasis. I read an article on Music Aficionado about the peppers and how Under The Bridge almost didnt made it on BSSM. Crazy to think that it almost didnt made it!

I agree with this. In Boston Champagne Supernova almost brought the house down. Was a bit more tepid in NYC.
The bit with the 'youngest Noel fan' was pretty hilarious.
Also was it me or did the technical problems start at the beginning and only come to a head at the end of Riverman or were there some bum notes during the first tunes? Noel was looking around quite a bit during the first couple tunes either at the guitarist or Mike Rowe or someone off stage. Couldn't tell who. He seemed in a good mood though.

Whatever the issue was I didn't hear it with my ears, saw Noel looking around and then he mentioned the issue after the song. No issues after that I believe.

Montreal gig was awesome. Noel was funny as always. At some point, he said "This one is for all Oasis fans" and everyone started cheering expecting an Oasis song and they launched into You Know You Can't Go Back which was pretty funny.

seen the old fart last night. he's been using 'This one's for all the Oasis fans' since the end of the world and crowd was fucking sleeping! YKWCGB was great, but seems like nobody knew the song.
Ballad Of The Mighty I was weird. good plaing but fuck this song is just too fucking lame, I guess.
Everybody's On The Run, Lock All The Doors, We Can't Go Back, Heat Of The Moment , Death Of You & M were fantastic (again crowd was sleeping through them)
I missed Liam for the first time since the split. I think I could never have fallen for Champagne Supernova, Digsy's and Listen Up if Noel had been on vocals back when I first heard em...
it was a nice show, very professional... but you know, you know.... didnt wanna complain about anything really, but here was just the alcohol still talking. Portugal - France , c'mon honey

Saw him in Toronto last night and I think it was the best of the 4 times I've seen him. Brought a non-fan with me and he absolutely loved it, he has already been on to me this morning saying he has been listening to both his albums

Same set list and order I assume. Any memorable banter?
I had a friend at the show, a casual fan, loved it.

What do we reckon the festival setlist might be? Seeing him in Columbus on Friday and it's going to kill me to only get an hour.

Noel plays Meadowbrook Amphitheater tonite. Obviously been scheduled for a while. It's 8 miles from my house, in my same city. I couldn't be arsed, till this morning. Then I woke up for work and went WTF are you thinking? Just got my tickets I know I can't go back, but it seems like I can't stay away either.

Thanks mimmihopps Noel in good spirits. Made a comment before CS about playing an Oasis song. Someone must have said which one (couldn't really hear that) Did hear Noel reply "well it's not Little James" Good to see Chris back on drums. He brings a little more punch to the sound I believe. Noel talking about how he will get a new band someday, made similar comments last time he was here. I wonder if the band gets tired of hearing how he is going to replace them? Shorter set due to the Ryan Adams co-headliner. The only song (in the current full set) I've not seen him play before wanna be a spaceman, dropped. Ouch! Best songs for me YKWCGB & HTWA. Good crowd singalongs in the pavilion and all standing from start to finish. Lawn emptied by the end due to a strong storm with lightning. Of course I had that numpty next to me who kept yelling Wonderwall Also a good reception to the solo stuff, people seemed well familiar. Top night. www.setlist.fm/setlist/noel-gallaghers-high-flying-birds/2016/meadow-brook-amphitheatre-rochester-hills-mi-33ffcc75.htmlLocal press www.theoaklandpress.com/arts-and-entertainment/20160713/review-noel-gallagher-ryan-adams-deliver-diverse-complementary-sets-at-meadow-brook

The sooner this tour wraps the closer we get to ALBUM #3. with a pit stop to bhn release first, right? At this point, they might as well release the Be Here Now reissue in August 2017. Tie it to its OFFICIAL 20th anniversary date. No reason to do it in 2016 or early 2017. Noel used CY as an excuse as to why BHN never materialized. Well wouldn't album #3 in the spring of 2017 also impact Be Here Now reissue? For fucks sake Noel, get you act together. This is a DISASTER of a project. 90% of us ONLY wanted the Be Here Now reissue.

Glad to know you had a great time last night. I've seen Noel twice on Chasing Yesterday tour. "Listen Up" brought me tears in my eyes while I was singing along loud when I saw him in April. I'm not chasing the past, but some songs are timeless and they truly mean to someone/some people. I can't say he was very kind when I met him back in 2011, but his songs always get me back to the moment when I got into Oasis.
