By now Gem has somehow realized what he's gotta do, I suppose.

Gem looks cool as fuck imo. He's adopted the Paul Weller hairstyle. Makes him even more cooler now that he's middle aged and grey.

His guitaring would be a great addition to NGHFB. That american dude is a good guitarist, but his playing is too generic, touring musician style.
Gem has an original style. especially the solos.

He definitely has his own style. You can also see this in the way he plays rythm guitar, the emphasis on the upstrokes in the performance of Listen Up (I think it was) for example. But his guitar solos is also very good. Andy may technically be a very strong guitarist, but he doesn't have the same "feel" as Gem has. I always thought that it was a waste for Beady Eye to not use Gem as lead guitarist and then Andy as rythm instead. Or to get a new rythm guitarist and then just keep Andy on bass. I'm not sure that Noel letting Gem do quite a bit of the lead guitar stuff live with oasis just had to do with laziness and practical reasons (making it easier for him to focus more on the singing), that's of course some of the explaination, but I think Noel also really saw Gem as a great lead guitarist.

This is very true and something I've noticed in most solo artists' albums, apart from their own instruments the others seem quite dull and basic which is why even if there are members in a band that don't write music they always contribute to the overall sound of the group regardless. Chris Sharrock would've been amazing for the HFB as well though I can't see Noel getting rid of his long time engineer's brother at this point. Hopefully Ryan Adams or someone goes on tour and has to take Jeremy Stacey with him so we can at least have some hope of seeing another drummer and I really hope Noel gets Chris on board though Terry Kirkbride is quite good too.

I'm probably one of the few who believe Gem's contributions to Oasis outshined what Andy brought to the table overall. Sure Andy produced the best song "Turn Up The Sun" but Gem's overall body of work, plus the fact he came in with zero songwriting expectations, makes Gem the clear winner in my eyes.
- Hung In A Bad Place - Eyeball Tickler - A Bell Will Ring - To Be Where There Is Life
Plus all the side work he did with Liam developing songs together.

Stacey is a very good studio drummer, for example on ITHOTM I think he did very well. But when it's live he seems to be playing way too loud, hard and sometimes fast. Sharrock adapts more to the songs and supports the rest of the band well. I agree that Chris would've been great for HFB in a musical sense, but I'm afraid that adding too many former oasis-members would result in a lot of tiresome questions to Noel about the band turning into a "oasis without liam" or a reforming of the band. Also I think he may be a better drummer live than in the studio. He got a lot of praise for how he played the drum solo on TSOTL on the DOYS-tour, but after all that was something Zak Starkey came up with when recording the album. Still he's great live, absolutely. I like Terry Kirkbride, but I think I've only seen him perform with Noel on acoustic songs. Does anyone know how he is at drumming when it's a full-band electric performance?

Yeah I think the reason Noel has kept away from any former Oasis members is because of what you say which is a shame for us fans. Chris IMO was the best drummer Oasis had(or never had, whatever way you look at it). He could do Alan's jazzy bits and Zak's hard hitting stuff. One of the main reasons I was looking to more Beady Eye stuff was to hear his drumming in particular, his drumming on DGSS is the stand out for me. Plus I remember the band saying he came up with the drum part in Start Anew which really propels the song. Stacey did a terrible job on HFB1, don't know what Noel keeps talking about that re-recording the drums really helped the album but his drumming on Chasing Yesterday is much better. I thought he'd take that into the new live shows but I see that he still banging the drums like he's angry with them for some reason. Terry Kirkbride drummed on Mucky Fingers, that much I know for sure. Apart from that I haven't heard him in any full band songs either.

Noel probably never included The Roller because he didn't want it to be one of the main tracks on HC. Liam's songs were strong on this one, and that was revolutionary enough for Oasis. Imagine if a lead single from HC was written by Gem... impossible. It was a period when Noel was doubting ever writing another great song again, he just couldn't let this happen. I believe we'll hear HC version sometime in the future, though. It was probably recorded properly.

Noel said I was edited down from an 8 minute version to a 5 minute one and then finally 90 seconds. Got a cool late 60s Pink Floyd thing going on. Adding "Shout It Out Loud" makes the record very Noel heavy. I'd consider flipping "She Is Love" for it but not both.

I think I see what's going on here. Andy's next. Then they'll call it Beady Eye with Noel in place of Liam. It's the final insult. Noel's evil. That's why we love him.

We'd be back to the days of HC quality songs :-0 Another thought I was actually having: Could it be that Gem is the nicest human being on earth? I've never met him, but I would consider this to be quite probable. To be honest, I didn't think the fact that Gem is joining Noel on stage or even the HFB would affect me that much. Makes me happy!
