Second of all, I see the similarities but the phrasing is a little more syncopated and plus the tempo is slower than LATD so there's a difference there. Since it's more syncopated, the vocal melody isn't as defined so while it's similar, I wouldn't call it a rip-off at all. |

I believe it's wishfull thinking (clickbaiting) on my part to think they ripped off NGHFB. I think it's actually way closer to Rock On. *I truly enjoy the new RHCP record. There's some Kid Rock song that basically features him singing over Sweet Home Alabama. I don't get the point of that, especially releasing it as a single. That said, I don't even like the original Sweet Home Alabama. . It really rips of Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon. It just has Sweet Home Alabama references. Last Nigjt by The Strokes is a pretty good ripoff of American Girl by Tom Petty. |

Ironically for this thread, MJLD was in fact probably a rip off of Waiting for the Sun by the Jayhawks, who opened for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers before the song was released.
