The fun thing about it is, that it actually sounds more like The Masterplan. So much so that when you listen to it, you'd almost expect that one orchestra part from TM's intro to come in, and then be followed by the guitar and Noel singing.

Great Rip Off Song: Don't Go Away (The Real People's Feel the Pain and U2's One) Cringe Rip Off Song: Thank You For the Good Times (Andy's acoustic version is much better than the B-side version)

Oh yeah, Coldplay aren't exactly original either. Viva La Vida has the melody line of a Satriani song. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall of course has the I Go To Rio bit, which I instantly recognized when I first heard it and which it still reminds me of and which I cannot unhear and the main riff of Talk was taken from a Kraftwerk song. I had forgotten the Satriani thing until you mentioned it. IIRC they settled out of court with Joe filing to say he was dropping his action, and also stating legally he couldn't make this claim again. Cat Stevens/Yusef Islam also claimed that Viva La Vida had taken from his song The Foreigner Suite but later dropped his claim. I suppose it's for Coldplay the same as any other major selling artist- start off a small wave of litigation claims with and without merit simply by releasing a record as lower selling artists/management/publishers can smell the potential money.

Fade In Out is inspired by this.

There's no bigger zep fan than me. But they ripped off anyone and everyone ......includiding. Now kiddies. Sit down. You may learn something. They ripped off Jeff beck and Rod Stewart. beck was shattered when he heard Zep 1 page basically stole it all including a better looking blonde singer. Train kept a Rollin shattered beck. But here is the thing. They played every song better

A great song called Rip Off:
"Bleached on a beach, I wanna tickle your peach - it's a rip off!"
And yes, this song was indeed ripped off, by former Red Hot Chilli Peppers guitarist, John Frusciante.

It's the main riff with one chord lifted - very similar drums and guitar set up - quite similar vocal harmonies too... But it's a simple repetitive song.

Listen to this song by Italian band Le Vibrazioni. It was released in 2003. A big hit over here back in the day. The intro sounds like The Girl With X-Ray Eyes (that sounds like The Masterplan and Hotel California of course)

I think The Soundtrack Of Our Lifes had a bigger influence on Oasis than they would admit. I'm listening to their record Welcome To The Infant Freebase and it sounded like Be Here Now before it was even made. It's one of the most important bandsyou should listen too if you want to understand Oasis's influences.
