Do people consider capos crutches for guitarists to lean on? Idk I've always felt animosity from some guitarists about the usage of capos They can be used to recyle chord progressions in different keys, something that noel has done in his two solo albums(Dying of The Light and Death of you and me). |

I can see him play Staring at the Sun too U2 have done some great live acoustic versions of STARING AT THE SUN and I agree - it's a very "Noel Gallagher" type song when done that way and would suit his voice. |

If it sounds great with a capo, then it's all right. The animosity usually comes from frustrated prog rock and heavy metal fans who despise every musician who uses simple chords (by the way, before somebody picks this up, I actually like prog rock and some heavy metal stuff). |

Not using a capo doesn't improve anything or make you a better guitar player. Load of shite. |

Like if you played cigs and alcohol with a capo it would sound a bit less menacing. it would be subtle, but you can definitely hear it. Personally i love the capo, such a good way to adapt chords when they are weird or not in your singing key. |

An acoustic guitar always sounds best while playing open chords. Does it make it easier I guess. But playing Barr chords on an acoustic takes away from the sound is can produce when using open chords. He probably likes the way it sounds better.
Recycling chord progressions is part of rock n roll capo has nothing to do with it.

You can't play Wonderwall without capo. you can play any song in any way, capo or not. It wont sound the same, or weird, but the guitar is a magical instrument. |

Let's settle this once and for all: people who have issues with using a capo are those who can do one thing on the guitar and have an extremely narrow view of its possibilities, either due to ignorance (beginners) or prejudice (shredders who won't be seen playing a full chord, you'll find plenty of those on guitar forums).
