Here's Bowie being weird: It would be stranger seeing a picture of him not being weird.

So, these are the official lyrics: ★ (David Bowie)
IN THE VILLA OF ORMEN STANDS A SOLITARY CANDLE IN THE CENTRE OF IT ALL YOUR EYES
ON THE DAY OF EXECUTION ONLY WOMEN KNEEL AND SMILE AT THE CENTRE OF IT ALL YOUR EYES
SOMETHING HAPPENED ON THE DAY HE DIED SPIRIT ROSE A METRE THEN STEPPED ASIDE SOMEBODY ELSE TOOK HIS PLACE AND BRAVELY CRIED: I’M A BLACKSTAR I’M A BLACKSTAR
HOW MANY TIMES DOES AN ANGEL FALL? HOW MANY PEOPLE LIE INSTEAD OF TALKING TALL? HE TROD ON SACRED GROUND HE CRIED ALOUD INTO THE CROWD I’M A BLACKSTAR I’M A BLACKSTAR I’M NOT A GANGSTAR
I CAN’T ANSWER WHY I’M A BLACKSTAR JUST GO WITH ME I’M NOT A FILMSTAR IMMA TAKE YOU HOME I’M A BLACKSTAR TAKE YOUR PASSPORT AND SHOES I’M NOT A POPSTAR AND YOUR SEDATIVES BOO I’M A BLACKSTAR YOU’RE THE FLASH IN THE PAN I’M NOT A MARVELSTAR I’M THE GREAT I AM I’M A BLACKSTAR
I’M A BLACKSTAR I’M WAY UP, ON MONEY, I’VE GOT GAME I SEE RIGHT, SO WIDE, SO OPEN-HEARTED PAIN I WANT EAGLES IN MY DAYDREAMS, DIAMONDS IN MY EYES I’M A BLACKSTAR I’M A BLACKSTAR
SOMETHING HAPPENED ON THE DAY HE DIED SPIRIT ROSE A METRE THEN STEPPED ASIDE SOMEBODY ELSE TOOK HIS PLACE AND BRAVELY CRIED: I’M A BLACKSTAR I’M A STARSTAR I’M A BLACKSTAR
I CAN’T ANSWER WHY I’M NOT A GANGSTAR BUT I CAN TELL YOU HOW I’M NOT A FLAMSTAR WE WERE BORN UPSIDE DOWN I’M A STARS STAR BORN THE WRONG WAY ROUND I’M NOT A WHITESTAR I’M A BLACKSTAR
I’M NOT A GANGSTAR I’M A BLACKSTAR I’M A BLACKSTAR
I’M NOT A PORNSTAR I’M NOT A WANDERING STAR
I’M A BLACKSTAR I’M A BLACKSTAR
IN THE VILLA OF ORMEN STANDS A SOLITARY CANDLE AT THE CENTRE OF IT ALL YOUR EYES
ON THE DAY OF EXECUTION ONLY WOMEN KNEEL AND SMILE AT THE CENTRE OF IT ALL YOUR EYES
Can anyone make heads or tails of that? I'm pretty flummoxed tbh.
Oh, and Liam should sue, get his name added on the writers' credits: "I'm not a gangster"?? Quite obviously nabbed from Liam's infamous "Tonight, I'm a rock 'n' roll star - ain't no fuckin' gangster!"...

Obviously, I hate the NME - it's the law - but I have to say, I did like this, from one of their writers:

The album's already got its first review - 4/5 from Q magazine: "...spotlights Bowie's experimental intent this time around, with its nod to latter-day Scott Walker" Called it, carryusallOver the moon that he's re-recorded Sue... and 'Tis A Pity She Was A Whore, not least because it means we've got two new songs to listen to that we didn't think we would have, and also because 'Tis A Pity really bloody needed it - you couldn't hear what the fuck was going on, barring the drums.

Blackstar...where do you even start with that? Its obviously excellent but after a couple of listens I can't really properly explain all the things I like about it.

Cheers for posting mate, pretty good review, positive and with good detail. 4/5 stars is pretty great for what seems like a pretty outre record, although in fairness Q and Mojo are usually very kind to artists of Bowie's vintage. With you about the re-recordings, new version of 'Sue' sounds pretty intriguing, I think it'd sound great with some heavier guitars. 'Tis Pity She Was a Whore' blew me away upon first hearing it, but that version's not going anywhere, and the transition from home demo to full studio recording should be a really rare glance into Bowie's process, which I'm really looking forward to it. But most of all I'm excited for the ones we havent heard yet. New Bowie songs! In those years he was away I always thought he'd come back, and I didnt think The Next Day would be the end, and I'm so glad he's back, he's doing some of his best work. And I fucking love blackstar

Apparently the next single will be Lazarus, and it will come out sometime next month.

Never been able to get into Bowie, can someone give a 15 or so song list to start with?

Never been able to get into Bowie, can someone give a 15 or so song list to start with? 1. Space Oddity 2. The Man Who Sold The World 3. Changes 4. Starman 5. The Jean Genie 6. Aladdin Sane 7. Young Americans 8. Fame 9. Station To Station 10. Sound And Vision 11. 'Heroes' 12. Ashes To Ashes 13. Fashion 14. Ziggy Stardust 15. Life On Mars? But I'd honestly just listen to his most famous albums - Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, and Aladdin Sane - they should tell you all you need to know. If you don't like them, Bowie probably isn't for you. If you do, then go onto his so-called 'Berlin Trilogy' of Low, Heroes, and Lodger. And even if you don't like the original three I mentiones, still listen to Low and Heroes, they're totally different to the rest of his catalogue, and to be honest, especially where Low is concerned, different to anything I've EVER heard.

Knowing how you like a good playlist, The Escapist, that list of songs works particularly well played in that specific order...

Blackstar is a late contender for my song of the year. It's like three classic Bowie songs in one!!

I'm a casual fan/just getting into him; but I would add Absolute Beginners to that list. Don't know what's general consesus on that one, though.

Bowie's probably thinking 'Should I? Would be a bit awkward if the wife said no though...'

Either the album hasn't received any more reviews, or the ones it has received have been shit, because Bowie's twitter account hasn't posted any others.

Just hearing rumours of a Bowie tour at the end of February?! Not sure if it's true or not.

Blackstar is a fucking good track imo. The album should be great.
I though Bowie said I won't tour again. ?

There was rumours he'd do Glastonbury after The Next Day came out, but it never happened. Read an article on the making of the album, the other day, and Visconti reaffirmed Bowie's position - there will be no more live appearances.
