So maybe Fort Knox isn’t an instrumental after all??? It is an instrumental. Mentioned in the new Q along with a review of Liam's new album and a Q&A too. Holy shit 'Lee Mavers melodies with Morricone strings' on Love is the law? That preview should reassure everyone the melodies haven't been forgotten, and well, the kinds of sounds it describes are right up my alley.

I like Beautiful World. Am I alone in this?

I think the "get yourself together" bit is from Fort Knox. One of the articles I read this morning said there were some vocals on it (though just briefly).

That's a good little Q&A with Liam. Nice to see them in the same magazine, even if they are promoting separate albums.

It is an instrumental. Mentioned in the new Q along with a review of Liam's new album and a Q&A too. So the first vocals in the trailer are from 'Keep On Reaching'? Maybe? Well that alarm is still playing over them so it's Fort Knox. I think people are forgetting an instrumental can still have a vocal refrain somewhere. Fucking in the bushes had words. Can you see it now had that refrain. Sounds like a great opener, a good one to walk onto stage to?

Both Noel and Liam are releasing records this year that they should've released 6 years ago. Better late than never?

I think the Supersonic documentary really rejuvenated interest in the Gallagher brothers. The film felt like such a celebration

Loving the clips. Fort Knox's drums sounds like Its A Beautifull Thing by The Stone Roses. Just love it. She Taught Me How To Fly sounds really good, like a Pulp song. And Beautiful World sound great, love the melody in the vocals. Its too soon to talk but I think this will be his best solo record. More solid production and concepts.

So, yeah, I'm late to the party. My first impression is: I like what I hear. Quite a lot. It is totally different from what I was expecting and that makes me even more hyped because I don't really know what we'll get in the end.
I'm really intrigued by the overall vibe of this. You can't judge the finished product from very short clips, but let me say that the first one just blew my mind. The doorbell, the jet noise, and the "you gotta get your stuff together" chant (is it even from the same song?) really make for an epic track. I really like the shoegaze-ish riff of the second one (Beautiful World?), not too sure about the vocal melody but it's really too early to judge.
Also, I can hear a lot of different genres in these clips. Dream pop, disco music, some hints of shoegaze, New Order, lots of samples. The whole record will definitely sound big and cinematic.
One thing's for sure though: this album will divide the fanbase like no other before. Totally not looking forward to that kind of discussions in the forum.

Especially Noel's US tour venues. That doc was oddly popular here[it being on Amazon Prime]. People here thought it was hilarious, and I know of a few people that saw it and then discovered Oasis/Noel/Liam post 1995 that they didn't know existed. WTSMG was huge here in the US then they essentially vanished. Many casual fans from 20 years ago rediscovered the Gallaghers this past year.

Oh, I forgot to say that clips are fucking lame. I hate them. I'd rather get one full song than a bunch of very short clips thrown together just for the sake of it. You can't really judge a whole song from a clip but you're almost forced to do it because that's all you have.
I hope we're getting Beautiful World on Friday.

So far, the conversation has been quite civil and we already got the "you can't be a true Oasis fan if you like this" comment out of the way. Besides, with Liam's and Noel's albums coming out at around the same time, we have all bases covered. It doesn't matter if you're wishing for something traditional or something different, cos we're getting both.

People can be a fan of whatever they want, for whatever reason they want. That "true fan" bullshit is an implicit problem on this site with a bunch of megafans trying to be or validate/rationalize to themselves that they are a truer a fan than others. It is subjective and irrelevant.

The concept reminds me of Everything Now. I can see that a lot of Noel Gallagher fans might loose interest in this record and that it's not the fan service that NGHFB fans are used to. But he will probably gain other fans of other genres. It's what I expect from a Noel Gallagher solo record, it's up my street and it's what he was known for, for a lot of fans of the Chemical Brothers (his unofficial first solo efforts).

I'm one of those people that rediscovered them... the one love benefit also contributed to my friends that weren't fans at all. I'm not blown away by the NG clips but I'm NOT going to make assumptions till I hear more..and I think that is completely acceptable

Ah funny. I see the article on Twitter a page or a few pages back mentions the Fall. Well, I've started watching that and quite liked the music. After some googling I found out about David Holmes' involvement and now I see he used that piano player on Noel's record.
Great.

I know I shouldn't get carried away but I feel confident it will be. You don't put these two guys in a room together and come up with mediocrity. And it sounds like Holmes wasn't afraid to push Noel and let him know when he reverted to tired old tropes. I especially liked his comment last year about getting out of the mid-tempo rut. Now can we just get a time machine and go back and re-do all the post 2000 oasis albums with Holmes please? I love Beautiful world, can't wait for the whole thing. The verse almost sounds a bit In Rainbows era Radiohead, which is why I guess it won't appeal to some here, but I love it, never thought I'd hear that kind of sound from Noel.

The clips are obviously too short to form a final opinion, but I'm not convinced from the little we get to hear. I think the instrumental track is alright, but it's the vocals/vocal melody which sound kinda dull to my ears. But as I said, these are just a few seconds and who knows, maybe the songs are exploding into something amazing ? By the way the artwork really reminds me of Dig Out Your Soul.

Think the third is definitely the weakest out of the three, don't like it. Really like the first two now after a couple more listens.

Glad to see Noel is finally pushing himself out of his comfort zone.
Not entirely sure this album is going to be my thing but obviously not going to write it off after a small clip. Ready to be surprised.
