Chart battles with his brother? The general public don't care, and besides, if going on past form, Noel easily outsells Liam so it's hardly as if we're in for a contest.
It's generally going to be the case that the guy who wrote all the great songs and music for Oasis will by nature sell more records considering his reputation and talent. It's completely irrelevant, and I don't think either brother is gearing up for anything, so as long as we get good records from the pair of them, that's all that matters. You can say it looks petty from the outset regarding the rift between them, but they're not so pathetic to turn it into a chart battle. Be careful saying that around these parts, some people may take exception Well if that's the case, then fuck knows what they're doing on this forum. People can't be that stupid to not realise that it's all about the quality of the songs. I mean, come on, the guy wrote Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory - songs that Liam's voice absolutely nailed with his deserved voice of a generation, but would also sound quality with other singers because they are that great. I can't fathom how some hardcore Liam nuts cannot comprehend this fact - and if so, they can't be real Oasis fans. While many are bored of Noel's songwriting seeing it as too safe (I largely agree with this), most of us still hold that inherent faith that he can still produce something close to the genius of old. We see it every album in fairness even up to Chasing Yesterday, so it's not impossible for him to produce a brilliant piece of work again. That's why many will always be more intrigued to see what he can come up with. Liam's a different scenario and almost incomparable. For a start, he's not a songwriter - certainly not a good songwriter and god help us if anyone thinks he can compete with Noel - so it's about finding the right songs for that great voice, which hopefully his team of songwriters can deliver. I've heard four of his songs so far, and 3 out of 4 are sounding good to my ears (which is a good ratio so far).

Do we know if Noel's album has been completely mastered and finished?
I mean, is the album just sitting on a hard-drive somewhere collecting dust?

But honestly, I think Liam will sell pretty well all things considered.
Beady Eye debuted with 90k with DGSS and 60k with BE, if I remember correctly. I think Liam will put up around 60k in his opening week, which would be really good considering the decline of record sales.
That's partly why I think that anyone who thinks Liam will sell more than Beady Eye will be up for a rude awakening. I mean, DGSS came out 6 years ago. Record sales have steadily declined and more reliance has been put on streaming (which hurts Liam and Noel). If Liam sells as much as Beady Eye did with DGSS, that will be an accomplishment.
Considering the intrigue that should be brought by Liam album, I'd bank him bucking the decline a bit and staying at or near 2013 record levels.
As a side note: I think Noel knows his floor, but doesn't know his ceiling. He has an established fan base that he can count on. And he knows he's capable of not having his audience capped at all. Whereas Liam might have a ceiling because there's a decent segment that will believe that Liam is a no talent back that can't approach Noel. Plus, Noel appeals to his fans, hardcore Liam fans, and causal Oasis fans. I'm not sure Liam appeals to all 3 though.

Not trolling. Genuine opinion.
Unless Noel has produced an album that has much more life in it than his last two, I think As You Were will outsell his album over time.
In fact, I think it's very arrogant to expect otherwise.

In fact, I think it's very arrogant to expect otherwise. It really comes down to the singles. CY was a better album than HFBs, but HFBs sold more. TDOYAM was a really good comeback hit for him, and the WAL was a massive hit. However, the commonality between HFBs and CY is the fact that they both kept selling. Both of them stayed in the charts for 6+ months, I believe (and both were platinum sellers). So Noel has proven on two albums that he gets sustained sales (I think partly because he appeals to a large swath of people). That's not to say that Liam can't do the same, but I think the big question mark with him will be what he does after his big release week, that is after presales are taken away. With Beady Eye they debuted well but fell off the charts quickly. Liam isn't Beady Eye, but it's all the history anyone has to go on right now.

But one of the things that you said is that Liam is not Beady Eye. This is a new situation. Only time will tell who is right, my mate.

Some people on here don't seem to understand that the artist doesn't get to just arbitrarily pick a release date. The record label, and more importantly the distributors, have a big say in that. They're not gonna shoot themselves in the foot financially by releasing on a date against someone that's gonna swallow up all the press. Would be bad business, plain and simple. So, even if say Noel didn't care about that (he does), it would be a longshot the other players at stake would let that happen.

I hope he makes a good artwork for this one, still can't believe the CY album cover was real. The worst thing is I think he made it bad on purpose to appeal a younger audience by looking unconcerned or something.

He self publishes as owner of Sour Mash, but I guess that most of the decisions like release dates and similar are likely delegated to people with more expertise in that area, who then feed back to Noel the details he needs to know. I remember Noel saying back around the CY release cycle about him being given deadlines for deciding on an album title, as well as being given particular release windows (March/October), so whatever the actual management structure is, he hasn't got absolute control over everything.

I like the HC and NGHFB album covers (NGHFB more so). Got a soft spot for blurred/distorted images. As well as neon lights.
The TDOYAM cover looks more straightforward in comparison. Aesthetically pleasing, but so is a lot of Instagram.

Yes, exactly. Anyone can publish music, but making a tangible copy available to purchase worldwide, that's a whole different ballgame.
