Noel and Liam. Living in a shit hole. Abusive father. Poor neighbourhood. No real education.
And look at them now.
No musical training prior to the 1994 debut. Not like fuckin Kelly Clarkson.
I just cant get my mind around it. Noel and Liam are/were ordinary people. Now they are superstars. I find it unbelievable.
Im trying to imagine myself in a band. Its not that easy. How did Liam know he was a good singer? How did Noel know he was a great guitarist and someone who wrote good lyrics? it blows my mind.
Oasis are the real deal. I love these guys. Noel is the fuckin man.

I think it's funny that Noel said he laughed when his mom told him Liam was the lead singer of a band. Who woulda known Liam would go on to be one of the greatest rock & roll frontmen to ever live

i mean, im gonna be 20 in October.
Im approaching the age Liam was when he began Oasis (21 or 22). I would give ANYTHNG to be in a band Oasis II. Think about it. How the hell did these guys do it. Sheer determintiation. No money for voice lessons or any of that shit.
In todays society we see kids making it big in school, getting help with their voices and such through HS and programs such as American Idol.
But somehow. Noel and Liam, no family background of music, became fantastic rock stars. how the hell did that happen? it boggles my mind. and i love them for that. they have shown the whole world that anyone "can make it happen"
Liam was an ordinary 21 yr old with little education, and little hope for the future. and look how hes turned it around.
and what i really admire is that these guys, even though they are celebreties, are still normal people. They arnt like those fuckin pricks here in America. They dont have a mansion that u never see. They live (yes in a nice fuckin house) with the general public. Im rambling again....

Noel is the fuckin man. I feel like I'm watching some kind of TV show called "How to be a rock'n'roll star?" after reading your post... (still no offence mate) "Living in a shit hole. Abusive father. Poor neighbourhood. No real education"There're still millions kids all of the world, even here in West-Europe just like them, not only Gallagher brothers. "How did Liam know he was a good singer? How did Noel know he was a great guitarist and someone who wrote good lyrics?"Of course they didn't know. Liam just picked a microphone and started to sing and Noel was writing what he had in his mind, that's all. and they had nothing to lose. Rock'n'Roll fairy tale doesn't exist. Gallaghers came on the right time with the right tunes. PS: Don't get me wrong live4evr, you're still very young, but I wish you a good luck if you mean seriously what you said. If you really wanna be like Gallaghers, go outside and meet people from any kind "classes", talk with them, have lots of arguments with them.

same shit happened to the beatles man. They were just four guys in a band
Noel's not really a great guitarist. He only knows like one scale.

noel played on the guitar for years teaching himself. Some people just have a natural talent. My little brother is the same

Trust me.. i'm self taught at guitar.. some people are also self taught and have played for less time and are much better than me.. it's natural talent Noel has, he's not AMAZING but is still a good guitarist.
-edit-
..hang on, fuck off you're nearly 20!
When did that happen?!

I'm willing to bet 80% of rock bands come from relatively similar situations.

god you talk shite
you can't understand that people become famous?
would you find it easier to understand if oasis were middle class, had a great father and had a university education?

. They arnt like those fuckin pricks here in America. They dont have a mansion that u never see. hey could you just put down your watered down bottom shelf campus liqueur for a moment and stop generalizing every other thing in your topics...? If you'd actually spent some time around professional musicians in America you'd be able to attempt to make some believable statements.

wow. let me try to address some of these counter points...
- when i said: I try to see myself in a band...i didnt mean im planning on it! i just meant that its not easy. its not like you get a group together and you play at small venues, and then you'll be good. theres no formula. What i was trying to get at are the odds of 2 brothers (Noel and Liam) being pretty damn good musicians but not coming from a background that would suggest that.
- and yes, its much easier to be a rock star if you're educated in todays society. Schools promote singing. And if you have money for education, you have money for voice lessons and music lessons.
- Kelly Clarkson and American Idol represents how easy it is to become a star, no matter how crap you are. and the movie industry depicts that people can be born into fame (Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen for example). Oasis were not.
- Never will I or any of you most likely run into people like Tom Cruise, Britney Spears, or anyother 'top' American celeb. This is because they all hide in their own world. But with Oasis, Noel and Liam live among the people. not in some hollywood mansion. You'll bump into them in the street, pub, or shopping. And i feel thats something special.
jesus, i cant believe i had to explain myself as such!

the point of this post: i was watching Then and There last night
and i was just thinking that only a few years before that they were ordinary people, like me and you. and now look at them! continuing with the title...i find how ones fortunes can change as such amazing.
no need to hate.

once again i feel the need to say, god you talk shit.
this happens in all walks of life. pop singers, business men, sports starts, other celebrities...loads of people start with nothing and make alot of money. it isnt that difficult to get your head round.
are you being serious? if so you clearly know fuck all about the history of music.
what sort of background would that be then? are working class people not allowed to be talented?
noel, to my knowledge has at least 3 houses, 2 of which are fuckin huge mansions. yeah you could see liam in pub if you were lucky, but im sure if you went on a forum of 'any other top american celeb' you will find photos of the celeb and fans in the high street too.

when i lived in London, i lived just a few blocks away from Supernova Heights, and my sister had a friend who lived on that road.
How many people do you know who lives next to anyone from the Chilli Peppers, for example?
and no, this isnt poor vs rich talk. of course uneducated ppl have talents! but education helps people become aware of those talents!!!!!
Wanking, youre attempting to pick a fight with me for no reason. I never said what Oasis has done noone else has. I'm just using them as an example bc this is a fuckin OASIS MESSAGE BOARD. I'm trying to get the point across that if youre determined enough, you can achieve whatever you want to. But i didnt want to use a cheesy cliche phrase like that.

Wanking, youre attempting to pick a fight with me for no reason. why? because i disagree with what you are saying? you of all people should understand that logic... supernova heights....jesus i cant believe youre saying this. do you think noel said 'i wanna buy a house next to normal folk' a few blocks away from supernova, well in london that isnt hard is it bright spark? there isnt one area of london designated only for houses worth £3m onwards. there are plenty of these american 'a list celebs' that you keep going on about that live in london, and im sure, next to 'ordinary' people'. its just that you dont know so you decide to generalise.

lol man you people do wreck on L4E alot! He is simply stating his awe at the fact that these guys were a bunch of regular dudes who decided to join a band who not only made great music, but they got to record and release that great music to the world AND make stacks of cash at the same time! If only we could all be so lucky!

Wanking, of course Noel has a choice! noone is making him live where he is!
He could easily decide to move to hollywood and live in one of those fuckin houses you see on that crap MTV show "Cribs" (i'll be slated for knowing that show too lol)
He could move out to the country side in a big fuckin house away from the ppl too...
And hes gone on record in many interviews claiming that he's "just an ordinary human being, like you...."
He's really the only rockstar/celeb that connects with the general public.
I dont really know what its like in London, but i do know in America the celebs have their own life. They live in their on world. Laws dont apply to them. And noone sees them except for on TV. They are so superficial here in America. And the fact that Noel isnt like that, makes it special, bc he stands out....
