wow. let me try to address some of these counter points... - when i said: I try to see myself in a band...i didnt mean im planning on it! i just meant that its not easy. its not like you get a group together and you play at small venues, and then you'll be good. theres no formula. What i was trying to get at are the odds of 2 brothers (Noel and Liam) being pretty damn good musicians but not coming from a background that would suggest that. - and yes, its much easier to be a rock star if you're educated in todays society. Schools promote singing. And if you have money for education, you have money for voice lessons and music lessons. - Kelly Clarkson and American Idol represents how easy it is to become a star, no matter how crap you are. and the movie industry depicts that people can be born into fame (Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen for example). Oasis were not. - Never will I or any of you most likely run into people like Tom Cruise, Britney Spears, or anyother 'top' American celeb. This is because they all hide in their own world. But with Oasis, Noel and Liam live among the people. not in some hollywood mansion. You'll bump into them in the street, pub, or shopping. And i feel thats something special. jesus, i cant believe i had to explain myself as such! i know some ppl who have bumped into johnny depp in their local stores and how big of a star is he? i used to have a friend who bumped into david beckham too (it was in a LV store though ;D)

"people like you and digsy who play yer music and still live on council esates, your the real rock and roll stars. Im not, im a pop star with more money than sense" was what he told him to the best of my memory.

I think you just made L4E's point though, Noel is a cool fucking person who still goes to the store to buy a pint of milk and gets pissed off looking at 20 checkout stations but only 2 of them actually running so you gotta wait in line forever. Go to the Tesco in Potters Bar anytime other than 2am and you will get the same feeling.

I can't believe people are actually arguing about this. How many times has Noel said he does what he does because he wants to make alot of money and because he loves music. I really believe it's that simple. When you grow up piss poor like they did, you'll do whatever it takes to make real money...and if you can make it doing something you love than even better. So why are people acting like Noel holding up a black AmEx card means he's just as stuck up as these celebs who virtually live in their own world? If I was Noel and I came from where he came from, you're damn right I'd flaunt my success...it's only natural.
As for the other side of the argument...While Noel certainly is more "grounded" than other celebs, I wouldn't exactly call him just another shlub on the street. But once again...which one of us would be if we had his kind of money? I'll tell you right now I'd find the biggest goddamn house I could, and whether or not it's near the "normal folks" would be completely irrelevant.

I guess l4e is just sort of confusing "really cool" with "really normal." We all have cool friends, we all sit around and talk shit just like Noel did in that video. You know how many times people say stupid crap just like that burn down a rain forest bit. The cool thing about Noel is he ain't the normal, annoying preachy mega star like Bono and co. Noel still talks and acts like a regular guy. He just happens to have loads of cash.
