Definitely Maybe for me, but sometimes Morning Glory Rock 'n' Roll Star > Hello Shakermaker < Roll with It Live Forever > Wonderwall Up in the Sky < Don't Look Back in Anger Columbia > Hey Now! Supersonic > Bonehead's Bank Holiday Bring It on Down < Some Might Say Cigarettes & Alcohol < Cast No Shadoe Digsy's Dinner > She's Electric Slide Away > Morning Glory Married with Children < Champagne Supernova 6-5
I left The Swamp Song parts and added BBH to make the number of songs even

Definitely Maybe by an absolutely mile,
It's the single greatest album ever produced. The perfect mix of 30 years of Rock 'n' Roll influences all coming together to create something special and something the country really needed. It is the perfect Oasis album, showcasing their energy and rawness which got them signed in the first place twinned with the anthems and melody which would take them to higher places.
Morning Glory isn't that great in my opinion. It has some truly great songs but that doesn't always make a good album. It's far too inconsistent and don't feel like a coherent collection, it's almost feels like a compilation album to me in the way its contains great songs but there is no overall mood to the album and it just feels thrown together.
I love listening to DM all the way through and I'm transported to a different time, whereas Morning Glory doesn't do that for me and I cannot listen to it all the way through because 2-3 of the songs are rubbish.
Morning Glory sees Noel progress as a songwriter on individual tracks but as a whole album DM is far superior

WTSMG.
I mean: Wonderwall, DLBIA, Some Might Say, Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova... in the same tracklist! It does look like a greatest hits CD but it's one real album. Insane.
There isn't any shit song on it, imho: Roll With It can be a bit annoying but it's still enjoyable when you're in the mood, Hey Now is a minute too long but it doesn't get the praise it deserves and She's Electric is a pure throwaway which pisses all over Shakermaker (again, imho). Hello and Cast No Shadow are often overlooked but they're brilliant, brilliant tracks.
I agree, it may lack a bit of coherence, an overall mood, but you can't beat all that quality in the same album.

Roll With It could have been done by an number of Indie bands at the time, it's just so generic and Oasis-by-numbers.
Hey Now plods along, goes nowhere and is 2 minutes too long
She's Electric is fucking terrible. I know people on here like it but it is the antithesis of the Oasis I loved. I loved the swagger, the pure rock 'n' roll sounds of Rock 'n' Star, Some Might Say, Supersonic etc and here they are jabbering on about cousins, dozens and oven's. The fact Noel copied it from a kids tv show says it all
Hello isn't all that great either, perhaps their worst ever opener
I love Wonderwall, Cast No Shadow and Morning Glory whilst Some Might Say and Champagne Supernova are all time classics by any band not just Oasis. Two of the finest songs ever written its just the rest which leaves me cold.
I've said it on here before but I really want to love Morning Glory as I feel I'm missing something but every time I try to I'm just wanting to skip to my favourite tracks, I never do that with DM or even BHN. I don't feel like it's one of my Oasis albums.
A few years back I got a framed Morning Glory disk as a present, which any Oasis fan should love but it's in my loft as I feel like I'd be liaring a little having it on the wall(like having a poster of player you don't really like from your favourite sports team).
I can't really explain it

I pretty much agree with Beentherenow. I never listen to Morning Glory all the way through because it's just so hit and miss.
Btw the Morning Glory revised tracklisting I'm currently using (and I use A LOT)
1. Acquiesce 2. Some Might Say 3. Wonderwall 4. Don't Look Back in Back 5. Headshrinker 6. Round Are Way 7. Talk Tonight 8. Cast No Shadow 9. The Masterplan 10. Morning Glory 11. Champagne Supernova
This would be better than Definitely Maybe but as it is the debut gets my vote.

With a bit of padding Noel could have lived off MG for at least 2 or 3 albums. Those songs could have taken him into the 21st century!
There's at least 7/8 rock solid singles on there ffs. Not to even mention those b-sides!
It will forever be his masterpiece.

Cast No Shadow over Cigarettes & Alcohol?!?!?
I know that's probably a common held view around here as well, but i just find it totally ridiculous to be honest, laughable in fact.
p.s Definitely Maybe FTW

You think She's Electric is bad because of it's non sensicality? Are you forgetting about Digsy's Dinner on DM? The song is about have lasagna for dinner with strawberries and cream, I'm pretty sure that's just as bad if not worse than singing about your family etc.. Also, and this is just personal opinion, but what's wrong with Hello? I mean sure the studio version isn't the best but the live versions sound mega of it. Definitely up there with some of my favorite Oasis songs even. If you can listen to BHN straight through but not MG, then you my friend are perhaps one of a kind.

The only troll here is Noel when he put Hello, Roll With It, She's Electric, The Swamp Song and Hey Now! on an album instead of Acquiesce, The Masterplan, and Talk Tonight My point is, if I never heard half of Morning Glory again I wouldn't be that fussed. For an album that had the potential to be utterly perfect I consider that a miss.

Definitely up there with some of my favorite Oasis songs even. If you can listen to BHN straight through but not MG, then you my friend are perhaps one of a kind. No I don't like She's Electric because it's a shit song. I just mentioned the lyrics because it sums up what a bunch of nonsense it is. Also I don't think its got the charm DD has, not to mention the 'These Could Be The Best Days Of Our Lives' part is about as perfect a line to sum up a debut album as any in existence,
With regards to Hello, exactly the studio version isn't the best. This is a comparison of the albums is it not?
I don't often listen to BHN all the way through mainly through time constraints! But if I'm in the mood I definitely can without skipping a track.
I know I'm in the minority regarding Morning Glory but to me its has too many weak moments. Oasis despite what critics say were very diverse musically Headshrinker, Talk Tonight, Gas Panic!, Supersonic etc all sound like different bands, so it's going to happen when fans of the same band have different opinion of songs and sounds.
To a lot of people they love Oasis for their life affirming anthems, the raise your arms in air and sing your heart out Indie brilliance. I personally am not a big Indie music fan and instead loved Oasis for their rock 'n' roll, punk side. Balls to the wall swagger which Definitely Maybe sums up. Be Here Now is fucking bonkers but is still closer to the Oasis I love. Morning Glory whilst having great songs is too vanilla. It's isn't in your face, it isn't antagonistic, it sounds neutered, like what it is 'an album to appeal to a wider audience' there is nothing wrong with that but it isn't what I like to listen to. I'd rather listen to Columbia 20 times over than DLBIA and that's not me being a hipster it's because DLBIA isn't my cup of tea musically. I can appreciate it's a good song, like I appreciate Adele or Eminem being talented but they're not my thing.
Why can't people understand that not everyone has the same taste as them? That an Oasis fan doesn't have to love everything and Morning Glory isn't some untouchable thing sent from the heaven that is impervious object incapable of criticism?? Yes its a good album but to say Hello, Roll With It, Hey Now and She's Electric (nearly half the album) are great songs then I'm sorry you and I will have to disagree

Every song is enjoyable when you're in the mood That's not true. There are a shitload of songs out there that are utterly without merit, that never have and never will bring enjoyment to anyone anywhere. Revolution 9, for instance. I know what carlober's saying - because Roll With It is not to the extremely high standards of the majority of ...Morning Glory?, it hasn't aged quite as well. It can, on occasion, grate. After hearing it numerous times in a day, it can be annoying. However, if I haven't heard it for a while, or I'm feeling a bit down, I'll put it on every now and then and bloody love it.
