WTSMG. I mean: Wonderwall, DLBIA, Some Might Say, Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova... in the same tracklist! It does look like a greatest hits CD but it's one real album. Insane. There isn't any shit song on it, imho: Roll With It can be a bit annoying but it's still enjoyable when you're in the mood, Hey Now is a minute too long but it doesn't get the praise it deserves and She's Electric is a pure throwaway which pisses all over Shakermaker (again, imho). Hello and Cast No Shadow are often overlooked but they're brilliant, brilliant tracks. I agree, it may lack a bit of coherence, an overall mood, but you can't beat all that quality in the same album. i agree with you, but to be fair the same thing can be said about definitely maybe (live forever, supersonic, cigs and alcohol, slide away, rock 'n' roll star). but i agree that morning glory is their best album

I chose Definitely Maybe.
Obviously, I do love both of the albums and I don't think there's a bad track on any of them, really, but DM is a much more important album in my eyes. It's their signature record, it encapsulates what they really are, and contains, for me, their best track - Live Forever.
It's one of those things that don't happen very often, we're talking about an album that catches the spirit of a certain time period and lifestyle. My favorite thing about it is that it's just bursting with confidence and optimism, but there's still that unavoidable hint of sarcasm and cynicism in there.
It's just so full of life.
(this sounded way better in my head)

Definitely Maybe is the better album imo. Production wise as well it's far better than MG.

Rock 'n' Roll Star < Hello 9:10 Shakermaker < Roll with It 9:10 Live Forever = Wonderwall 10:10 Up in the Sky < Don't Look Back in Anger 9:10 Columbia >> Hey Now! 10:8 Supersonic > Bonehead's Bank Holiday 10:9 Bring It on Down << Some Might Say 8:10 Cigarettes & Alcohol << Cast No Shadow 8:10 Digsy's Dinner > She's Electric 10:9 Slide Away >> Morning Glory 10:8 Married with Children < Champagne Supernova 9:10
i use a boxing scorecard. 10:9 means won the round, 10:8 won the round and knocked the opponent down during the round.
102:104 for morning glory

WTSMG: Wonderwall, Some might say, Champagne supernova, DLBIA, Cast no shadow, Morning Glory DM: Supersonic, Cigarettes and Alcohol, Columbia, Bring it on down
Those are the real highlights of both albums imo, not a big fan of Live Forever or Slide away, I like them but they dont do much for me..yes i know..
Both are very strong albums - WTSMG edges it but it does have its low points too..I dont like Hello, roll with it is fun but its pretty weak and hey now is very repetitive and whiny.
Still, MG takes it, just slightly. If DM had Listen Up and Cloudburst, it would probably draw with MG though

I say Even. They are two very essential Oasis albums that serve great purposes and have brilliance written all over them. Some days I prefer DM, some days I prefer MG, so there's no point in choosing which one truly is better than the other because they are perfection in their own ways. DM has a strong, youthful feel to it, while MG is more matured and shows a band coming into their own. Put the two together, and I don't think there's many other bands, whose first two albums, can top that. Now, everyone, quit fighting and enjoy the music

DM, easy.
Rock N Roll Star, Live Forever, Slide Away, Cigs and Alc, Bring It On Down, Columbia, Supersonic
Can't top that.

WTSMG wins all the way for me, everything on it is brilliant excepting Roll With It (which is still good), and Hey Now! (which is quite awful indeed imo) and the Swamp Song bits but they hardly detract from the overall experience.
DM has a lot of the classics but some of the songs feel a bit filler and it doesn't run as smooth as WTSMG for me.

Being serious, I just perfer the sound of DM. It's a rock album that takes no punches and delivers back to back energic tunes, from Rock n Roll star straight down to Married with Children. Sure it has Shakermaker (which is better live, especially in the Gleneagles performance), but otherwise it never has a low point.
As a album, WTSMG is dynamically better. It ranges from ballads to rockers in an impressive format, and with the Swamp Song tracks it mimics that live album feel to almost perfection.

It's hard to choose. I prefer Liam's voice on most of Morning Glory, but Definitely Maybe is the one I go to if I want to hear an Oasis album in full. It's amazing to think the depth of Noel's output in those couple of years, a bit like Bradman's batting.

Well then go ahead and laugh. Also, someone said WTSMG is hit and miss. Hit and miss? What are you, a troll? You find WTSMG hit and miss?! Now that's something I can't wrap my head around! If MG is hit and miss everything they did after was a steaming pile of dog shit. This I had to laugh at...but MG for me isnt as solid as DM.

Well, thats hard because these 2 albums are certainly in my top 5. I'll go for Definitely Maybe, for some reasons.Live Forever and Slide Away being my 2 favourite Oasis songs and Supersonic, Rock n Roll Star, Cigarettes and Alcohol are amazing tunes. And the B-Sides are great too: Listen Up, Fade Away, Half the World Away... The same can be said of WTSMG, which is absolutely outsanding, but I prefer again more the youthful of DM.

I just can't get how people don't love Digsy's Dinner. I mean, listen to Liam's voice in the demo...

MG by a nose, because I think it's more varied.

I think there really is a reason why people often prefer Morning Glory when it comes to a choice like this and there really is a reason why Oasis got to the top of their success after this album. Rock n Roll Star, Live Forever, Cigarettes and Alcohol,Supersonic, Slide Away and all the rest is a fantastic collection of classics for the debut album, but Hello, Morning Glory, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Some Might Say, Champagne Supernova are just on a different level, the songwriting on MG is more developed, the arrangements are more diverse, production is much more listenable, Liam vocals are at them bests, this is really Oasis at their best. Morning Glory is Oasis golden period. And it's got She's Electric on it.
