It should and quite easily could have been better, but if nothing else, it gave us D'You Know What I Mean?, in my opinion the best song they ever put out.
Not to mention that as supposed "filler" songs, I Hope, I Think, I Know and The Girl In The Dirty Shirt are top drawer, and All Around The World, Stand By Me and Don't Go Away are all great songs turned into classics by Liam's irrepressible 1990s vocal cords.

I may still be very young, but I feel old whenever there's an anniversary like this one. Your body feels young, but your mind is very old?

Just to add to my earlier post regarding be here now Liam's vocals are really good on this album He sounds great on DM, then his voice develops on WTSMG (I personally love his vocals on this album) and then he moves on as a vocalist on be here now. On be here now he sings songs with different styles such as: bluesy fade in out, Rock and roll it's getting better man, my big mouth, IHITIK and be here now balladish style - girl in the dirty shirt, stand by me and don't go away. As I was getting at in my previous post in this thread... Be here now was never going to live up to the hype surrounding it before release (I'd be surprised if any album could) and equally it doesn't deserve the kicking it gets from Noel and the media etc. Yes the songs go on a bit Yes there are far too many guitar tracks on some of the tracks Yes there are songs on there with questionable lyrics And yes perhaps inspiration was lacking during the writing process But it is a snapshot of the band at that moment in time. A celebration, a party, a big f& k off to all the critics. The band get a hammering for not developing their sound but on BHN they supplemented their sound with Wurlitzer and Rhodes keyboards, blues slide guitar and strings. And it's sold about 8 million copies

Was my first ever album (from any band). Xmas 1997. Still a damn shame it didn't come with a packet of white powder.

That was a great day, that 21 august 1997. To blast such an excellent record on such crappy speakers back then, yet finding it mindblowing. Good times. the 90s were top, werent they i remember blasting be here now in the car immediately after i heard the news that princess diana had died. the album had been out for only a week or so, if memory serves me correctly.

Well that's incongruent. well hey it was either that or being forced to listening to the radio and that god awful candle in the wind remake that was being played once an hour and considering that be here now was the only thing i had in the car at the time, i would have been blasting it no matter what, even if world war III had been going on (i had transferred the album to a cassette, because the car i had at the time didn't have a cd player ) that's what music is to me, i usually always associate a major event with a song, or album, that was out at the time it happened.

I also link the two events. Then candle in the wind stopped a sure number 1 too

Well that's incongruent. If more people had they could have buried the woman with dignity, people would have carried on normally, and maybe depressing ballads backed by OTT public emotions wouldn't have become so common. The age of the bedwetter to paraphrase Alan McGee

I know, I was only being a smart arse. And besides, it's not like the remaster'll change anything anyway, if Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory are to go by.

I can't believe Be Here Now is almost 20 years old. I had just turned 16 when it came out. I feel..........old.
