would have been considered the 2nd best song on the album if it was on chasing yesterday.

would have been considered the 2nd best song on the album if it was on chasing yesterday. Cheers for that. I really like The Fame, its a very solid B-Side but theres something missing for me and I've never been able to put my finger on it. I believe its the only Oasis song to actually mention cocaine by name? Which is interesting I think. Oh and also at least half of CY is miles better than it.

Thematically, The Fame wouldn't fit on CY because it's an arrogant anthem which basically says "I've become all rich and famous ("I'm a man of choice in a Rolls Royce") and fuck you!!" The Fame is one of my favorite b sides, but it would have to contend against a lot of good songs on CY.

This ^^- Even with stripped back production the lyrics alone make it a Be Here Now era only song, and I refuse to get into that record's track list debate again

Does anyone happen to know why Noel sings this one and not Liam? Is the vocal melody difficult for Liam? Or perhaps he was too drunk to sing?

I have a love/hate relationship with the song, the first time I thought woow, best b-side!, now I think it's a little simple, (especially the chorus, same with DYKWIM?). Both great songs but the choruses are boring for me

I also heard that The Fame was originally included in the tracklisting for BHN but it was but it was cut to shorten the record. Always wondered if it was because it mentions "cocaine" by name!

Does anyone happen to know why Noel sings this one and not Liam? Is the vocal melody difficult for Liam? Or perhaps he was too drunk to sing? I thought that the lyrics referring to "An Old Rolls Royce" etc. were Noel referring to McGee and the mad days at Creation, so I assumed it was meant for Noel to sing from the start, like the girl in the dirty shirt, etc. a more direct lyric from his own life. Could be wrong

I love The Fame. For me it is by far the best B side Noel ever wrote, and is one of my all-time favourite Oasis records, beaten (just) to the number 1 spot by Some Might Say.
Christ knows why this wasn't on BHN.
Oh, and for anyone who thinks CY has better tracks than The Fame - call yourself an Oasis fan?? Go hang your heads in shame....

I just assumed the lyrics sounded like the Creation storiess, like the chocolate brown roller he got from mcgee when he couldn't drive. EDIT- been up 24 hours + so apologies if i have more verbal diarrhea then usual

I do my best.... I'll raise you "Lock All The Doors" in my opinion better than the fame then That song alone I can just about understand, as they are cut from the same cloth. The Fame edges it because of its loud, aggressive, no-holes-barred sound, but LATD is the best song Noel has given us since The Fame. So I can almost let you off with that one....

Not bad but definitely not one of the best. It would probably fail to make my top 40.
And yeah I like everything on CY better. However, I do not see the relation between those, except being written by the same guy.
And like someone already mentioned, this could only have come out in the BHN period.
