I love The Fame. For me it is by far the best B side Noel ever wrote, and is one of my all-time favourite Oasis records, beaten (just) to the number 1 spot by Some Might Say. Christ knows why this wasn't on BHN. Oh, and for anyone who thinks CY has better tracks than The Fame - call yourself an Oasis fan?? Go hang your heads in shame.... Oh, and for anyone who thinks The Fame is best song from Noel until Lock All the Doors - call yourself an Oasis fan?? Go hang your heads in shame.... Whatever.

Not bad but definitely not one of the best. It would probably fail to make my top 40. And yeah I like everything on CY better. However, I do not see the relation between those, except being written by the same guy. And like someone already mentioned, this could only have come out in the BHN period. I suggest you prescribe yourself with some tablets, Doctor.

Noel should really play this song live. Shame it never got even one outing on the BHN tour.

I really like The Fame, however it would be very far down my list of songs to play to non-fans of the band. The majority of Chasing Yesterday would be far higher up that list.

The Fame isn't even the best Be here now b-side. That goes to Flashbax.

Personally, I'm really not a fan of the track and would almost certainly rank it last in the bands 90's discography.
I mean the track isn't a complete disaster, but instrumentally it's a real mess and it sounds like a Noel wrote and recorded it on the spot. Lazy.

I believe its the only Oasis song to actually mention cocaine by name? Which is interesting I think. I believe Headshrinker originally contained the line "I do cocaine in the pouring rain," as heard in some live versions (e.g. Live By The Sea). The line obviously didn't make it to the recorded version though! On a similar note, Cigarettes and Alcohol's "You might as well do the white line" is pretty blatant. I read somewhere (possibly in Lee Henshaw's book) that when they were asked to provide a copy of the lyrics to the BBC (presumably for radio playlist/Top of the Pops purposes), he changed the line to "You might as well do the white LIME," claiming it was a reference to an exotic fruit.

I cant believe no one has mentioned Stay Young! If there is one BHN b-side that absolutely should have been on the album its Stay Young (in place of Magic Pie). Going Nowhere is brilliant but that has no place on BHH I think. Stay Young / Going Nowhere could both have been on MG they are that good!

I think Stay Young is one of the most overrated tracks

I love The Fame, but I'm a huge fan of Oasis B sides in general. I don't think it would have been a great CY choice because it's just not 2014 Noel, it 90's Noel. Lock All The Doors is 2014 Noel.

The Fame is the perfect summation of Be Here Now and that era. And for that, I fucking love it.
"Is my happening too deafening for you", poignantly sums up Be Here Now.

I couldn't see it in another era other than BHN either. Both it and Flashbax scream Be Here Now. In fact it maybe *could* have been squished before/after "Be Here Now", and the way The Fame seamlessly goes into Flashbax is no coincidence.
I prefer Flashbax, but the AATW single is one of my favorites overall.

People give the BHN b-sides way too much slack. (I Got) the Fever has a amazing chorus.

What really strikes me about the Fame is that yes, it is a thunderous arrogant song but there's also a lot of hurt in there. Listen and you'll see. Very similar to My Big Mouth in that respect.
I love the song, one of my top 8 non Masterplan bsides.

Without doubt the B sides of BHN are the best from any era. I don't care what anyone says.
Stay Young The Fame Angel Child I got the Fever My Sister Lover Flashbax Going Nowhere
You've got the makings of a great album right there, excluding the excellent stuff from the BHN album itself....
