Why is 'If I Can Dream' at number 2 out of interest? That's my favourite Elvis song, and one of my favourite songs of all time. Please don't tell me it was covered on fucking X Factor or something?

Just listened to A Rush of Blood to the Head again. Jesus Christ. There's more emotion in the first ten seconds of the title track than in all of their last three albums combined, and that's not even an exaggeration. You said I'm gonna buy this place and burn it down,I'm gonna put it six feet underground. You said I'm gonna buy this place and watch it fall,Stand here beside me, baby, in the crumbling walls.Oh and I'm gonna buy this place and start a fire,Stand here until I fill all your heart's desires,Because I'm gonna buy this place and watch it burn,And do back the things it did to you in return. The truth is, Coldplay, I miss you. THE best Coldplay song

Chris's solo career will only go as far as his ego will let him and he's no Adam Lavine. Sad that instead of looking to his past idols like Ashcroft who had solid early solo albums, he's going to probably go down a hip hop/electronica route with abunch of pop celebrities on his "solo" debut. He's already claimed he loves Justin Bieber's new single. The Bieber-Martin team up is coming folks. Prepare Oldplayers to see a guy you originally thought to be the next great songwriter of his generation to continue to stab himself relentlessly. Honestly I think Will, Guy and Jonny could form their own group without him. They are all still very talented musicians and have alot more to bring to the table. They won't be some sort of Beady Eye (that wasn't a jab)

They won't be some sort of Beady Eye (that wasn't a jab) I'm impatient to hear that dream-team in action No, seriously I really don't understand that guy, Chris Martin. I never have been a big fan of Coldplay tbh, but I must admit that in the early 2000's, they made some good musics. How can you pass from Yellow,Amsterdam, to shits like Adventure of A Lifetime, A Sky Full of Stars, except if you do it on purpose ? More that clearly shit songs, these last two seem to have as only goal to sell the maximum of copies in the actual charts. Of course, an artist always wants his music to be heard, but in the case of Coldplay, it seems to have become their ONLY goal. I don't hear any songwriting, artisting touch in a song like A Sky Full of Stars. Why a guy like Martin, who always said to be inspired by the britpop in the Coldplay's early days, doesn't follow the kind of roads that are taking Noel, Weller, Coombes, etc ? He seemed to have become more of businessman than a musician, now...

Be Here Now was fuelled by cocaine.
A Head Full Of Dreams appears to have been fuelled by Berocca and CBeebies.

Listened to Amazing Day again today after almost a week since the first two listens. I have to say that it is really truly missing something. It's a nice, dreamy track that can make you think of a cool place you wanna be at, but the lack of overall emotion sticks out, and it feels like a poor re-hash of Paradise. It also feels saccharine in some ways, and the lyrics reflect that, with stuff like, "Named every star, shed every bruise, showed every scar". We're almost entering Nickelback territory there...

I know I'm late to the party, but here is my review of this album! So what was I expecting? A poor-man's Mylo Xyloto. And what did I get? Something even worse. (shake head) A Head Full of Dreams: Decent enough, but the awful production (especially those dance beats!! I mean, wtf?) ruins the song for me. And the standard "oh-oh-oh"'s make me cringe. First track in, and Coldplay are already making a mockery of themselves? Uh oh.... Birds: What happened to the song? There seems to be a decent song in here somewhere, but it seems to have disappeared under the overproduction. Hymn for the Weekend: Ever since MX, Coldplay songs have had a way of outdoing each other. And just like A Sky Full of Stars outdid Princess of China by a million times, this song outdoes A Sky Full of Stars by a billion fucking times. I mean that it's absolute shit. Makes Princess of China look like a masterpiece. Undoubtedly destined to be a global hit, and coming soon to a radio station near you. Ugh. Chris, there's a reason that everytime I go shopping I bring my earbuds along and blast BHN: it's to avoid hearing manufactured, insipid pop shit like this that always plays over the loudspeakers. (shakes head) Everglow: Still a sickly sweet "ballad" which goes for Up in Flames (which I love), but instead feels like every single bit of emotion has been squeezed out of it. Its resemblance to the songs on GS makes me wonder...were these songs written at the same time as those on GS? Cuz some of these songs express similar bittersweet sentiments. So don't be fooled into thinking that this is a "rebuttal" to GS! Adventure of a Lifetime: Surprisingly a highlight of the album! Which is both a good and bad thing. A good thing in that the song has grown on me, a bad thing in that the average song's quality on this album is (italics)very low. Fun: Absolute shit. Goes for the energy and beauty of Paradise but falls flat on its face. Chris' vocals are dreadful (as they are on the majority of songs here, AOAL being one of the few exceptions). Before the album's release, I had hoped that this was a reworking of the song they gave to Natalie Imbruglia, and I still think that they should have rerecorded that song rather than release another idiotic pop song that sounds like everything else on the radio. Had they revisited it, it would have been by far the best song on the album. Kaleidoscope: What on earth is this? Is this Coldplay's attempt at Revolution 9? Cuz it doesn't exactly work.... A waste of disc space (but as if the rest of the songs aren't ). Army of One: Blech. I can't help but wonder if it is only Chris that wants all the songs to sound like this, and not the other members? Because just like GS, AHFOD pushes the rest of the members into the background and makes it sound like Chris solo. On every album before GS, the contributions of the other members were very apparent. Perhaps the decline in quality is due to excessive creative control by Chris? Yeah, I'm beginning to think that this is what's happening. X Marks the Spot: This is interesting, and much better than the song with which it shares a track. Another good song ruined by terrible production. Had they taken away the stupid dance beats, and made it more atmospheric, this might've been the Midnight of the album, a dark, moody, and experimental piece which showcases the talent we know that these four guys have, but seem to have lost.... Amazing Day: Always in My Head pt 2? Well the difference between this and AIMH is that AIMH is actually a good song. This sounds like a comedian's parody of a Coldplay song. I mean, seriously. If you had told me back when MX was released that four years later this song would be on an album I would've laughed in your face. It's really disappointing what this band has turned into. Colour Spectrum: One minute of nothing. Reminiscent of the three intro tracks on MX, but twice as pointless. Even A Quick Peep is more fun than this! Up&Up: And just when you thought that this album was going to be a complete disaster, THIS comes on!! Un fuckin believable. By far the best song on the album. Noel's guitar solos are very nice, and give it a Champagne Supernova vibe, and while it doesn't quite reach supernova heights, it is a Coldplay anthem for the ages, rather than just a hymn for the weekend. Wow. Just when you thought that this band had no more talent. I hope the band closes all of their future shows with this awesome song. Final thoughts: This is the fulfillment of everyone's greatest fears regarding Coldplay's future ever since they heard Princess of China for the first time. This is an excessively saccharine, overproduced, manufactured pop shit written only for MOR audiences. It sounds like a fucking parody of Coldplay. I can safely say that I'd rather listen to HC than this sickly sweet, lily-livered excuse for an album. Even Up&Up couldn't save this trash. I pray to the Gods of Rock that this be an anomaly of Coldplay's catalog, and not the template for all of their future albums. 4/10 (this would've been a 2/10 but Up&Up elevated it by two points)

Amazing Day or Hymn is surely the lowest point in Coldplay career? And the vocals in Fun are just horrific.
