Someone mentioned it earlier and I've noticed it more and more since the comment, is there a review embargo on this album? So many outlets didn't review the record this week before it went on sale. Very strange. The only review I read more than a week before the album was the one in Q magazine, where they were also the main cover feature and the review was positive at 4/5.

So Noel doesn't sing on his track - just plays guitar?
Is there an instrumental mix of it out there?

Listening to Hymn for the Weekend right now. My gosh, what a cringe fest this is. Can Chris just break away from Coldplay and do his own shit, instead of shitting on the Coldplay name with lazy and saccharine drivel like HFTW?

Can't believe it's got the Coldplay name on it... It needs to be branded with Chris Martin ft. Beyonce, because Jonny, Will, and Guy do not sound like they're present on that at all. The only trace of them being heard is a slight guitar lick about midway through, but even that is muffled by, and sounds like, the synths that take center stage.

Head Full of Dreams and Birds the only songs I'd care to listen to again from this album.

Not that it matters since the publication hasn't been relevant in 15-20 years but Rolling Stone gave the album 4 starts out of 5.
"He's hinted that this could be Coldplay's last album; if so, they're going out on a sustained note of grace."

#jesuiscoldplay I've heard the album so many times. All the shops where I went today, were playing the album.

Huffington Post gave it a very positive review.
"A Head Full of Stars is a triumphant reclaiming of a throne Coldplay so fundamentally deserves. Welcome back."

Has the world gone mad? First Adele who sells 4 million albums in less than 2 weeks or something and now Coldplay's shit album getting positive reviews?
It's official now then. We live in the Era Of Blandness. The Beige Ages.

theres a really nice run of songs on GS.. Ink, True Love and then Midnight. Ink, Magic, and Midnight are all great songs. O is my favorite from the album, and I believe it is up there with their best stuff. A truly moving song and a great closer for that particular album.

After Viva Coldplay were at the zenith of their powers creatively and commercially. Not sure why Chris felt they needed to capture even more legions of fans by dumbing down their creative output. That about sums Coldplay up for me. 3 terrific records with 1 decent sandwiched in there (X and Y) but from that height of it all in 2007/08, its been remarkably downhill from there. Once they legitimately and perhaps rightfully made it to the top, its like Chris Martin was desperate to hang onto that popularity, confusing popularity for relevance and integrity by bringing in all manner of shiny pop idols to lend credence to his latest. Perhaps the saddest part isn't even the music and songs itself but the way in which the music has been delivered, in increasingly glossy glittering servings of little substance, designed to endear themselves to everyone at once. It's rather off-putting.

All I can say is this album is alcopops distilled into music.

Good lord is there a reason I actually think this song is decent after listening to the live version?
Sure the majority of the tunes or mush to my ears, but I think Stargate way overproduced this album. They were really trying to polish a turd with more turd.
Also, Jonny's guitar sounds really great.

The lyrics are still extremely saccharine. "This particular diamond, was extra special"
