Over rated on here. The sound check version that we had for ages before this had much more potential that I was left disappointed and have never got over that. EDIT: Can someone please find that sound check? It was fucking epic. Don't suppose it was these?

It's got a count-in at the start, and that's the most important thing.

First minute or so (ie before Stacey's shite drumming comes in) is great. The other six minutes do nothing for me. Average tune. Yep, the first minute is like 'Oooh yeah, this sounds mysterious and intriguing', then it resorts to plodding dadrock. Most disappointing cocktease of all time that song.

I was never too keen on this track and I'm glad it was left off the album.

A brilliant song, probably the best thing from that album. Shame it didn't make an appearance on the album itself, or as a B side.
Typical Noel - pissing away the decent songs and instead sticking on shite like Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks, Broken Arrow and (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach.
They have to be the 3 most obvious songs that define the phrase `album fillers', if you ever needed it.

Broken Arrow is my second favourite HFB song. That's not a filler by any means.
Anyway, we disagree anyway, since you prefer the worst songs on HC over anything on DOYS.

I'm terribly sorry.

But really...you think AKA..BA and Stranded are just fillers?! Shocked. SBJF I Can give or take. Not overly keen on Alone on The Rope. Like someone said "a cock tease"

Uh, hello.....I just listened to the soundcheck version above. Assuming it was properly recorded by the band, it would appear someone's been holding out on us. 18 minutes. The full song and then some. No stop/starting. No fumbling. Very together. A total wall of sound at times. Epic indeed. Liam's not there and as long as he's alive a SB recording of it will never see the light of day I would think. Noel needs to screw him and leak it.

This sound check version sounds tight and rehearsed. Granted, Oasis always did sound better musically live but this sound check is out of control. I was so disappointed (and will am) with what we got. Imagine NGHFB album ending in this epic sound check version? Fucking hell. There's probably too much life in this version for Dave Sardy, though.

I think A Simple Game of Genius is up there with the best he's written but lacks in production. If it was set up correctly then I think it would have made an incredible album closer.
Also, people are mentioning Alone on the Rope in this thread; this is another one that I really love. I love it when he branches out a bit.

I've just stumbled again on that 2009 soundcheck version of A Simple Game of Genius and it sounds massive. Real badass.
I'd pay a fucking lot of money to have a good quality version of that.
