I've just seen this on Twitter: Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja aka 3D drops two remixes of ‘The Right Stuff’ on his Battle Box label in conjunction with The Vinyl Factory.
Originally released on Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ album Chasing Yesterday earlier this year, ‘The Right Stuff’ has been pulled apart and reassembled by Massive Attack’s 3D and Euan Dickinson for two dark reworks of cinematic intensity.
In 3D’s words, “it was a good opportunity to take a great song, slow it right down, remove the guitars and then scratch the clarinet backwards.”
Speaking of the collaboration, Gallagher also hinted that it’s been a long time coming: “I remember being at The Brits in ’95 and D offering to do a Massive Attack re-mix of ‘Cast No Shadow’. The idea was never followed through and it’s something I’ve regretted ever since. It’s nice to finally scratch the itch somewhat.”
Battle Box 004: High Flying Birds In 3D is pressed to 12″ vinyl with artwork by Paul Insect and is limited to 500 copies. Pre-order your copy direct from The Vinyl Factory online shopahead of its release on 31st July.
Vinyl Tracklisting
A. The Right Stuff (3D Version 1) B. The Right Stuff (3D Version 2)
You can stream the Version 1 remix here: www.thevinylfactory.com/vinyl-factory-news/massive-attack-3d-remixes-noel-gallaghers-high-flying-birds-vinyl-stream/

£25 for a two track vinyl is a complete joke!

Hmm what a weird remix. Not sure what to think of it. Cool artwork though.

£25 for a two track vinyl is a complete joke! Two remixes of the same song... that's even worse The first reworked version is nice, but from one of the minds behind Massive Attack I was expecting something better...

It's a weird remix, not bad, but a bit disappointing if you take the fact Massive Attack was behind it. It's a cool thing to have, limited edition, but very expensive for what it is.

This should be no more than £10 really. Even £15 is pushing it!

I've ordered it, I like to have physical copies of Oasis / Beady Eye / Noel material.
I don't mind paying the money as it's quite limited numbers too. And also this album cycle I have only ordered the limited edition versions of the singles, the city blue, pink and clear vinyls and the record store day 12".

You got to get the physical material. I recommend anyone on the fence get it as you'll regret it if you don't. Im predicting that in the future / once hits eBay £25 will seem like a bargain!

In regards to the remix itself it is just the kind of style I thought Massive Attack would create, really like how dark it is. Looking forward to hearing Version 2.
Hopefully all the remixes are collated in future either as a boxset and / or a high quality digital download as both the Wizard's Sleeve re-animations deserve to be heard in the best quality available.

Ordered it! £32 by the end. Had 2 pints at lunch, so was feeling willing, also didn't want to have to fish one off ebay in a few months time for £200 as it's so limited

As theres only 500 copies I've taken a punt on it, £30 is crazy money though.

I really like this remix. No way I'm paying £30 for a 12'' single, though.
Why don't they just put out an album with all the NGHFB remixes? It's getting annoying how scattered these releases are.

Like Jim said above and what Noel alluded to before, i'm sure there will be either a standalone remix album or a special edition re release. Tbh when you look at the prices of some of the other ltd stuff on there £25 not bad for a 500 ltd run. (Also Paul Insect art seems to be desirable too which makes sense as i think the sleeve looks really really nice)

Yeah very good, I really like it. This is the sort of dark, atmospheric sound to be expected of Del Naja to be fair.
But yeah, I'll be waiting for the remix album or whatever, definitely wont be paying for the vinyl.

Does this suggest The Right Stuff is the next single?

Does this suggest The Right Stuff is the next single? Did the limited edition of The Dying Of The Light demo mean that was the next single? No it didn't.

I agree, all these remixes being spread out across various sound cloud pages, youtube etc makes them a right pain to keep track of. Wish they'd stuck with limited CD runs along with the 7"s and added these remixes to the b-sides.
