The fact that people have spent the first three pages of this thread talking about Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, and The Foo Fighters shows why this is a comfortable win for Britain. But these bands are not representative of american rock music as a whole. It's like you were citing Arctic Monkeys, Supertramp and The Enemy to represent UK rock bands.

It's still not much of a fight. America has lots of good stuff but the UK is on another planet. Guitar bands are central to our whole music culture. Make it about hip-hop, though, and America dominates the world. Produced so many fantastic artists in that genre in such a comparatively short space of time.

Oasis fans were and always will be music snobs having said that, I listen to South Korean indi bands I think most Oasis fans are the most far you can get from music snobs. Look at the lists posted in this thread, all bands are strictly British bands that were influenced one way or another by each other, and even the American bands listed were heavily impacted by their British counterparts - Not pointing any fingers, just stating facts. Oasis fans have little tolerance for music outside what they like, I admit I was just the same and all those bands were on heavy rotation.

They have Dylan, Doors, Simon and Garfunkel, Velvet Underground, Elvis... Nobody can be so much better if you have musicians like that. Yes, UK is better and I prefer UK bands but the difference is not that big. It just can't be.

If your country's list of great rock bands includes the folk duo Simon & Garfunkel, your country's list has room for improvement.

Of course they're so underrated but it's nowhere near others 'cause comedy rock is not about being great, it's the other universe of appreciation. Even... well, we discuss Electric Six in Oasis forum lol

I tried to cover myself with " Here's a far from exhaustive list of some of the more popular, acclaimed or noteworthy that come to mind" and I guess they came to mind! 'Acclaimed' probably isn't the chosen adjective but their debut is fire

US has quantity but not necessarily quality. The US artists REALLY worth salvaging are: All blues & gospel (laid the foundation for rnr) Bob Dylan Johnny cash Jimi Hendrix Iggy pop
You’d be pretty good with those to build your Rock base off of I think.
If I was going to add one more it would be Patti Smith
